Washburn Rural's girls and boys swept the Centennial League bowling team championships Friday at Flint Hills Lanes in Emporia, while Rural's Claire Ireland claimed the girls individual title.

The Junior Blue girls won the Centennial team crown by a 2,852-2,799 margin over Junction City, including the Baker format games, while Rural's boys won by a 3,432-3,337 margin over Manhattan.

Ireland, a junior, rolled a 596 three-game series to take individual honors by 19 pins over Emporia's Darby Hauff while Gabby Martinez was next in line for Rural with a 514 series and Ashley Billups added a 491.

Hayden's girls finished fifth as a team (2,189), led by Emily Ireland's 463 series, while sixth-place Topeka High (2,089) was led by Aleshia White's 470.

Geo Peoples finished third individually with a 673 series while Logan Glinka added a 639, Tyler Faurot a 636 and Josh Hammons a 628.

Adam Krohe bowled a 608 series and Thomas Patterson a 592 to lead fifth-place Topeka High (2,907) while sixth-place Hayden was led by Trevor Christy's 539 series.

Hayden will compete in a Class 5A-1A regional tournament on Tuesday at West Ridge Lanes, with the gils bowling at 9 a.m. and the boys following at 1 p.m.

Washburn Rural and Topeka High will take part in a 6A regional on Friday at West Ridge, with girls competition getting under way at 8:50 a.m. and the boys event scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Seaman girls sweep UKC individual, team championships 

Indiviual winner JaeLinn Thetford, a junior, bowled a 616 series to lead Seaman to the United Kansas Conference team championship in its first year in the league by a 2,887-2,790 margin over runner-up Lansing.

Senior Katie Price was next in line for the Vikings with a 527 series, while Claire LaDuke had a 491 series, Kayla Mize a 486, Laci Cole a 483 and Cheyenne Turkin a 472 series.

Topeka West finished third as a team (2,572) with Megan Wood bowling a 546 series and Reagan Kell a 504.

Shawnee Heights (2,226) was led by Rachel Donaldson's 455 series.

De Soto won the boys team title by a 3,407-3,199 margin over Seaman while Shawnee Heights (3,100) was third and Topeka West (3,081) fourth.

Topeka West's Dason Tidwell paced the city boys contingent with a fifth-place finish, bowling a 621 series (243 tiebreaker).

Ethan Burns paced runner-up Seaman with a 605 series while Riley Parkhurst had a 580.

Austin Cochrane led Shawnee Heights with a 591 series while Josh Egly had a 581.

Seaman, Shawnee Heights, Topeka West and Highland Park will all compete in a Class 5A-1A regional tournament on Tuesday at West Ridge Lanes, with the girls bowling at 9 a.m. and the boys following at 1 p.m.
