After dropping two previous games to Rock Creek by a total of 30 points, Silver Lake's boys basketball team made a dramatic turnaround Friday night, taking a 51-40 home Mid-East League decision over the Mustangs.

Friday's win was the second straight double-digit win for the Eagles, who improved to 6-12 overall and 5-4 in the league.
Silver Lake trailed 12-5 at the end of the opening quarter, but outscored the Mustangs 28-15 over the middle two quarters to put itself in position for the win before outscoring Rock Creek 18-13 over the final eight minutes.
Senior Troy Heiman led Silver Lake with 12 points while freshman Dayne Johnson added 10 points, junior Elijah Lopez nine points and junior Spencer Johnson eight.

MANHATTAN BOYS 78, WASHBURN RURAL 70 -- Manhattan handed Washburn Rural its second Centennial League loss of the season Friday night, dropping the Junior Blues into a share for the league lead with Emporia.
Manhattan (11-8, 5-4) rode a 26-13 first quarter to a big lead and the Indians led 38-28 at the half 59-45 at the start of the fourth quarter before the Junior Blues (14-5, 7-2) made up ground late.
Senior Jack Bachelor led Washburn Rural with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and also had 10 assists.
Senior Wyatt Conklin added 16 points with four 3s and senior Jacob Hirschi contributed 11 points.
Jack Wilson led Manhattan with 24 points while Cole Coonrod added 15 points and Collins Elumogo 13 points.
Washburn Rural will travel to Emporia next Friday to close out the regular season.
WASHBURN RURAL GIRLS 51, MANHATTAN 46 -- Washburn Rural rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to wrap up the Centennial League championship with a 51-46 road win at Manhattan Friday night.
The Junior Blues, who improved to 14-4 and 9-0, led 15-9 at the end of the opening quarter but Manhattan (7-12, 3-6) used a 9-0 run to taka a 26-24 lead at the half.
Trailing 49-46 late in the game Manhattan had an opportunity to force overtime, but Washburn Rural, which has won five straight games, came up with a steal and clinched the win with a pair of free throws.

SHAWNEE HEIGHTS BOYS 71, KANSAS CITY-TURNER 40 -- Shawnee Heights improved to 14-4 overall and 11-3 in the United Kansas Conference with a 71-40 road romp past KC-Turner.
Junior Brennon Dodge scored 15 points and sophomore Jaret Sanchez 14 to lead a balanced attack for the T-Birds, who used 13 players.
Shawnee Heights, ranked No. 10 in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, has now won six straight games entering a Tuesday night road game against UKC and city rival Seaman.
SHAWNEE HEIGHTS GIRLS 50, KANSAS CITY-TURNER 14 -- Shawnee Heights rolled to a 50-14 United Kansas Conference win at KC-Turner Friday night, improving to 13-5 overall an 11-3 in the league.
The T-Birds face a tough test Tuesday night, going on the road to face Seaman, the top-ranked team in Class 5A.
SILVER LAKE GIRLS 59, ROCK CREEK 37 -- Silver Lake pushed its winning streak to 10 games with a 59-37 home Mid-East League romp past Rock Creek Friday night.
The Eagles, who improved to 17-1 overall and 8-1 in the league, are ranked No. 3 in Class 3A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.
ROSSVILLE BOYS 62, RILEY COUNTY 44 -- Rossville snapped a five-game losing streak with a decisive 62-44 Mid-East League win over Riley County.
With Friday's win the Bulldawgs improved to 7-12 overall and 3-6 in the league.
RILEY COUNTY GIRLS 66, ROSSVILLE 57 -- Riley County rode a 17-6 second quarter to Friday night's 66-57 Mid-East League win over the Bulldawgs.
Rossville (13-6, 5-5) led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter but the Falcons (11-7, 5-4) rallied for a 26-16 halftime advantage.
The Bulldawgs used a 17-12 third-quarter advantage to cut their deficit to five points but Riley County closed out the win with a 28-24 edge in a high-scoring fourth quarter.
Junior Katie Spielman led Rossville with 16 points, including an eight of 10 performance at the free throw line, while Kinley Porter added 13 points and Kinsey Perine nine.

KANSAS CITY-BISHOP WARD GIRLS 49, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 21 -- Kansas City-Bishop Ward earned a regular-season Kaw Valley Conference sweep over Cair Paravel Latin Friday night, with the Cyclones taking a 49-21 decision over the Lions.
Cair Paravel fell to 6-13 overall and 3-6 in the league while KC-Ward improved to 7-12, 7-2.

KANSAS CITY-BISHOP WARD BOYS 82, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 49 -- Kansas City-Ward jumped out to a 46-27 halftime advantage on the way to an 82-49 Kaw Valley Conference win over Cair Paravel Latin.
Cair Paravel fell to 8-11 overall and 3-6 in the league while Ward improved to 16-3, 8-1.
