Hayden's boys basketball team continued its late-season surge Tuesday night, taking a 52-40 Centennial League road win at Emporia.
The win was the second straight for the Wildcats and their third over the past four games.

Hayden, now 6-13 overall and 4-11 in the league, got 16 points apiece from senior Trent Duffey and junior Joe Otting while junior Jake Muller added 14 points.
Hayden ended the game with a 22-10 run to pull away for the victory.
Emporia, which fell to 3-16, 2-13, got 12 points from River Peters and 11 from Parker Leeds.
Hayden will travel to Manhattan on Friday.
SEAMAN BOYS 78, MANHATTAN 67 -- Seaman got the best of Tuesday's high-scoring Centennial League contest, earning its fifth straight victory with a 78-67 road decision.
Seaman, which improved to 12-7 overall and 11-5 in the league, had four players crack double figures, with senior Ty Henry leading the way with 25 points.
Seniors Mateo Hyman and Dreighton Griess added 18 and 12 points for the Vikings while junior Kaeden Bonner chipped in with 11 points.
Seaman took a 23-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 43-31 at the half.
Manhattan (7-12, 6-9) outscored Seaman by a slight 36-35 margin after halftime, but the Indians were unable to mount a serious threat.
Seaman will close out its regular season at home Friday against Emporia.
CAIR PARAVEL LATIN BOYS 70, BISHOP SEABURY 58 -- Cair Paravel Latin, ranked No. 7 in Class 1A Division I by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, closed out a 14-4 regular season with Tuesday's 70-58 win over Seabury.
Senior Noah Hastert recorded a rare triple-double for the Lions, scoring 14 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.
Senior Zach Clark led Cair Paravel with 26 points while Evan Everhart had 10 points, 8 assists and 7 steals and Carter Brian contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds.
DE SOTO BOYS 50, SHAWNEE HEIGHTS 48 -- The T-Birds dropped a 50-48 heartbreaker on the road at No. 8-ranked (5A) De Soto, with the Wildcats scoring the game-winning basket with two seconds remaining.
Shawnee Heights (12-6 overall, 4-4 in the United Kansas Conference) led 31-26 at the half and 38-34 at the start of the fourth quarter before De Soto (15-4, 7-2) rallied for the win.
Sophomore Brennon Dodge led Shawnee Heights with 17 points and hit three 3-pointers while sophomore Jaret Sanchez added eight points and freshman Deacon Pomeroy six points and five rebounds and sophomore Jayden Holly six rebounds.
Shawnee Heights is at home for a Wednesday night UKC makeup game against Turner and will close out its regular season at No. 5-ranked Basehor-Linwood on Friday.
JUNCTION CITY BOYS 53, WASHBURN RURAL 40 -- Junction City (12-8, 9-7) won the rubber match with Washburn Rural (8-11, 7-8), taking a 53-40 home Centennial League decision over the Junior Blues.
Washburn Rural led 23-21 at the half but the Blue Jays outscored the Junior Blues 32-17 in the second half to take control.
Junior Jack Bachelor led Washburn Rural with 13 points, but was the only Rural player with more than five points.
Senior Howard Johnson led Junction City with 17 points.
Washburn Rural will close out its regular season at No. 6-ranked (5A) Highland Park on Friday.
ROYAL VALLEY BOYS 62, SILVER LAKE 30 -- Royal Valley, No. 3-ranked in 3A, improved to 19-1 with a 62-30 romp past Silver Lake on Tuesday.
The Panthers jumped out to a 35-14 advantage and used a 23-9 third quarter to take a 58-23 lead and force a running clock throughout the fourth quarter.
Silver Lake, which fell to 7-12, was lef by Kamryn Kaniper's six points.
The Eagles will close out their regular season with a Thursday night home game against Wabaunsee.
ROCK CREEK BOYS 48, ROSSVILLE 32 -- Rock Creek improved to 8-12 with Tuesday's 48-32 win over the Bulldawgs.
Rossville ended its regular season with a 3-17 record and will open 3A postseason next week.
