The list of contenders for the No.1 spot on the TopSports.news Shawnee County Best of the Best Coaches volleyball list includes some of the state's all-time winningest coaches, which is sure to make voting interesting.

Six county coaches have led teams to state championships, including five with multiple titles and four with four or more championships.

Washburn Rural coach Kevin Bordewick leads the way with a whopping seven Class 6A championships while former Hayden coach Jesica Farmer-Walter and former Silver Lake coach Angie Bittner notched five titles apiece and current Silver Lake coach Sarah Johnson is right behind with four titles.

Former Shawnee Heights coach Kerry Kapfer led the T-Birds to a pair of state championships in 1999 and 2000 while former T-Bird coach Laura Curry added a third title for Shawnee Heights in 2016.

Also on the list of 11 suggested candidates are longtime Rossville coach Cathy Foote, former Seaman coach Erika (Cowhick) Book and current Viking coach Tatiana (Schafer) Dowling, former Heights coach Racheal Dyke and former Hayden coach Susan Dickerson.

Vote as many times as you wish, with the only requirement that eligible candidates must have served as a head coach or assistant at one of Shawnee County's 10 high schools.

Final selections will be based on reader vote as well as input from TSN contributors and current and past local sports media professionals.   

Votes will be accepted through July 15 before TSN publishes our Best of the Best lists in July and August.
