City swimmers returned from the holiday break with a strong performance in Wednesday's Emporia Invitational, with Shawnee Heights and Seaman combining to win nine of 12 events.

Shawnee Heights' Luke Perkins of Shawnee Heights won four gold medals on the day to lead the T-Birds to six event wins while Seaman won three events and rode its depth to the team championship in the 10-school meet by a 387-319 margin over host Emporia.

Washburn Rural was third with 317 points, while Topeka High (281) and Shawnee Heights (271) rounded out the top five.

Perkins won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly and also swam on the T-Birds' winning 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Shawnee Heights' Guillaume Humblet was the champion in the 100 breaststroke and swam on Heights' winning 200 medley and 200 free relays while Heights' Truman Brede took a win in the 200 free.

Team champion Seaman got individual wins from Jeremiah Moylan in the 500 freestyle and Colin O'Rourke in the 100 backstroke and the Viking foursome of Blaize Appelhanz, Bradyn Crowell, O'Rourke and Marcus Greig won the 400 free relay.

Washburn Rural got runner-up finishes from Jalen Eilert (50 free and 100 back), Jack Miranda (200 individual medley), Sourish Sinha (500 free) and Cordell Dimick (100 breast) while Seaman got second-place finishes from O'Rourke (100 butterfly) and Theo Wagnon (200 free).

Topeka High's Jaxon Cowdin posted a second-place finish in one-meter diving while Heights' Humblet was second in the 100 free.

Washburn Rural's team of Eilert, Dimick, Miranda and Luke Lemke placed second in the 200 medley relay and Rural's Eilert, Sinha, Sean Carr-Metzger and Miranda finished second in the 400 free relay.

Seaman's Appelhanz, Tim Biggs, Crowell and Greig were second in the 200 free relay.
