Caryl, an Illinois signee, got her senior softball season off to a hot start as Topeka High opened the year 4-0. Caryl, a catcher, had seven hits and 11 runs batted in for the Trojans in last Thursday's 19-0, 19-3 doubleheader sweep over Topeka West at Hummer Sports Park. Caryl went 4 for 4 with a double, two triples and four RBI in the first game and was 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and seven RBI in the second game.

BETHANY DRUSE, Seaman

A sophomore, Druse won the girls 800-meter run in last Thursday's Jerry Beardslee Invitational track and field meet in a time of 2:23.6, a time that ranked third in the state through last week and was the top time by a Class 5A runner. Druse has won two straight 800-meter races this spring.

PARKER DUNN, Washburn University

A junior outfielder out of Owasso, Okla., Dunn went 3 for 4 with two home runs, a double and three runs batted in as Washburn's baseball team posted a 6-4 road win over Central Oklahoma last Saturday in a doubleheader split.

A freshman, Ingram made her debut for the Washburn Rural girls track and field team with individual wins in the high jump (4 foot, 8 inches) and the 200-meter dash (28.1 seconds) while also running on the Junior Blues' 4x400 relay team that posted a win in 4:23.4.

JEREMIAH SMITH, Shawnee Heights

Smith, a sophomore, turned in a four gold-medal performance in the ESU Relays, including setting a Shawnee Heights school record in the 100-meter dash in a fully automatic time of 10.36 seconds. Smith's 100 time eclipsed the previous school record set by Kansas State High School Activites Assocation Hall of Famer Marcel Carter in 1988. Smith also won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.75 seconds and the 200 dash in 22.20 while also running on the T-Birds' winning 4x100 relay (43.44).

KAYLEE SNELL, Washburn University

The former Seaman cross country and track and field standout took second place in the women's 3,000-meter run at the Southwest Baptist Invitational in a time of 10:32.26, taking more than 36 seconds off the previous school record of 11:08.67.
