Nine city bowlers have received all-state recognition from the Kansas Bowling Coaches Association, including five first-team picks, while Washburn Rural's Jo Ricard has been selected as the Class 6A coach of the year.
Rural senior Hannah Casto earned a berth on the All-Class 6A girls first team while Junior Blues junior Kaitlyn Doyal was a second-team All-6A pick.
Seaman junior Makenzie Millard and Shawnee Heights senior Brylee Prockish were named to the All-5A girls first team while Seaman sophomore Ethan Burns was named to the boys first team.and Seaman junior Kaitlyn Evans and sophomore Katie Price were second-team girls selections.
Hayden senior Aaron Thomas was named to the All-4A-1A boys first team while Hayden senior Kayla Simons was a second-team girls pick.
Ricard was named the 6A coach of the year after Rural's girls finished third and the boys fourth in the 6A state tournament.
Millard posted a city-high fourth-place finish in the 5A-1A state meet with a 612 series, including games of 232 and 221. Millard moved up a spot individually after taking fifth at state as a junior. Millard was the individual regional champion with a 666 series and third in the Centennial League meet with a 590 series.
Casto capped her high school career with a ninth-place finish in the 6A state tournament with a 607 series after earning an individual championship in a 6A regional with a 629 series. Casto was the runner-up in the Centennial League meet with a 650 series.
Prockish capped her high school career with a medal-winning performance in the 5A-1A state tournament, taking 20th with a 540 series. Prockish placed second individually in 5A-1A regional competition with a 592 series and took fifth in the United Kansas Conference meet.
Burns finished off his sophomore season with a 13th-place finish in the 5A-1A state tournament, bowling a 643 series with games of 214, 213 and 216. Burns finished third individually in the Centennial League meet with a 660 series and was seventh at regionals with a 616 series.
Thomas as a 5A-1A state qualifier after placing third at regionals with a 647 series and he finished fourth in the Centennial League with a 657 series. Thomas placed 69th at state.
