Class 6A

DERBY (10-1) at WASHBURN RURAL (11-0)

Washburn Rural, the No. 1 West seed, is coming off a 35-14 home playoff win over Wichita East last Friday while Derby advanced with a 23-21 win over 2022 Class 6A state champion Manhattan. Rural has won 11 straight games since dropping a 36-21 state quarterfinal decision at Derby a year ago while Derby has won 10 straight since a 33-19 loss to Manhattan in the opening game of the '23 season.

Rural senior quarterback Branton DeWeese has completed 111 of 180 pass attempts for 1,644 yards and 27 touchdowns while junior Lafayette Thompson has rushed for 559 yards and four TDs on 93 attempts and senior JC Heim has 453 yards and nine TDs on 67 carries.

Senior Titan Osburn has 29 pass receptions for 528 yards and 11 touchdowns and Thompson has 22 catches for 278 yards and three scores.

Defensively, JC Heim has been in on 153 tackles (91 solo) with 17 tackles for loss while Jaren Heim has 116 tackles (62 solo) with 10 tackles for loss and senior Jamond Lane has 67 stops (38 solo) with eight tackles for loss and four sacks.

Junior King Leonard has nine interceptions on the season while junior Wilson Miller has five interceptions. Both Leonard and Miller have returned interceptions for touchdowns.

Derby senior quarterback Braxton Clark has completed 80 of 110 pass attempts for 1,246 yards and 14 touchdowns in seven games and has rushed for 268 yards and seven TDs on 59 attempts.

Panther senior Derek Hubbard has rushed for 917 yards and 13 TDs on 124 carries while senior Colton Ruedy has 40 receptions for 706 yards and four TDs and junior Da'saahn Brame has 39 catches for 807 yards and 12 scores.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the 6A state championship game at 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Emporia State's Welch Stadium  to face the winner of Friday's game between Gardner-Edgerton (10-1) and Blue Valley (7-4).

Class 3A

HOLTON (7-4) at HAYDEN (11-0)

Hayden, the Class 3A District 4 champion, advanced with a 64-19 road Class 3A quarterfinal win over Parsons while Holton advanced with a 35-22 win over Frontenac.

Hayden and Holton will be playing for the second time this fall, with Hayden taking a 24-7 3A district win over Holton on Oct. 13.

Wildcat sophomore Kade Mitchell has carried the ball 70 times for 748 yards and has scored 14 total touchdowns while senior Finn Dunshee returned last week from an injury and has 691 rushing yards on 35 carries and rushed for 12 TDs. Senior Dom Ridley has 552 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 67 attempts.

Hayden junior Jensen Schrickel has caught 30 passes for 627 yards and has scored eight TDs.

Sophomore quarterback Connor Hanika has quarterbacked Hayden the past two games after an injury to Jett Wahlmeier and has completed 15 of 26 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns.

Holton senior Abbott Hundley has carried the ball 176 times for 1,332 yards and 14 touchdowns while junior Kyler Jackson has 728 yards and six TDs on 113 attempts.

The Hayden-Holton winner will advance to the 3A state championship game to face the winner of Friday's game between four-time defending state champion Andale (10-1) and Cheney (11-0) at Cheney

The championship game will be played at 1 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Gowans Stadium on the campus of Hutchinson Community College.

Eight-Man Division I

CAIR PARAVEL LATIN (9-2) at LYNDON (11-0)

Cair Paravel Latin is coming off a 48-23 playoff win at Chase County last Friday while Lyndon remained unbeaten with a 58-12 win over West Elk.

Cair Paravel has won seven straight games since dropping a 58-30 Eight-Man Division I district decision to Lyndon on Sept. 22

Cair Paravel junior quarterback Jase Pavlik ran for 164 yards and four touchdowns on 17 attempts against Chase County and passed for 63 yards on a 10 of 15 performance. Senior Jesiah Bonura rushed for 159 yards and a TD on 31 attempts. 

Lyndon senior Tanner Heckel has rushed for 1,965 yards and 44 touchdowns on 149 carres and completed 49 of 88 pass attempts for 899 yards and 17 TDs.

Senior Jalen Massey has carried the ball 122 times for 1,261 yards and 16 TDs for the Tigers.

The Cair Paravel-Lyndon winner will advance to play the 11 a.m. state championship game on Nov. 25 at Newton, facing the winner of the sub-state game between Ell-Saline (10-1) and Wichita County (11-0) at Leoti.
