Washburn Rural's girls, ranked No.2 in Class 6A-5A by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association, dominated Saturday's five-school Centennial League tournament at Junction City, posting a perfect 4-0 dual record en route to the Junior Blues' third straight league crown.

After a first-round bye, the Junior Blues opened the day with a 78-6 win over Junction City before taking a 78-3 win oer Emporia, a 51-24 win over Manhattan and a 78-0 win over Topeka High. 

Rural wrestlers Kristen Rezac (105 pounds), Maddy Blow (110), Annie Gallegos (120), Addison Broxterman (125), Laiken Clark (130), Madison Davison (145), TaAni Rhoten (170) and Sophia Ross (235) all went 4-0 on the day while Alexis Fredrickson reached the 100-win mark for her career.

A senior, Fredrickson did not begin wrestling until her sophomore season.

Clark and Rhoten both went 4-0 with four pins while Gallegos recorded pins in all three of the matches she wrestled.  

Topeka High dropped all four of its duals, with the Trojans' closest match a 36-24 defeat to Manhattan.

High 120-pounder Zoe Dawkins went 3-1 on the day with a pair of pins while 130-pounder Kharys Jones went 2-2 with two pins.

Washburn Rural and Topeka High will compete in a Class 6A-5A regional tourament at Wichita Southeast on Saturday.

Rural boys runner-up in Centennial dual tournament

Washburn Rural went 3-1 to finish second in Saturday's Centennial League dual tournament at Junction City.

Rural's only loss was a 42-31 decision against Manhattan while the Junior Blues took a 48-36 win over Junction City, a 45-31 win over Emporia and a 71-5 win over Topeka High.

Washburn Rural 113-pounder Easton Broxterman, 120-pounder Landon Kocher-Munoz and 157-pounder Brody Byrne all went 4-0 on the day.

Byrne recorded three pins and also picked up a win by forfeit while Broxterman had two pins, a 15-7 major decision and received a forfeit and Kocher-Munoz had two pins, a technical fall and received a forfeit.  

Washburn Rural will host a 6A regional on Feb. 17-18, with Topeka High also competing in that event.
