Highland Park's boys basketball team has only played one home game this entire season and that's not likely to change any time in the immediate future due to recent flooding in the Hi Park gym.

But the Scots continue to roll up victories, with No. 3-ranked (Class 5A) Highland Park bouncing back from its lone loss of the season to post three regular-season wins in four days last week, capped by Friday night's 93-53 non-league road victory over Kansas City, Mo.-East.

Highland Park opened the week with a 66-46 non-league win at Eudora, followed by a 58-19 Meadowlark Conference win at KC-Schlagle on Thursday and the Friday night win over KC-East.

Junior Ja'Corey Robinson scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against East, followed by junior Mikey Williams with 18 points.

Also cracking double figures for the Scots were senior Amari Taylor with 14 points and freshman Jojo Kingcannon with 11 points.

Junior guard Jamon Wilson dished out 11 assists Friday night.

Highland Park will travel to Atchison on Monday for a Meadowlark Conference contest and is tentatively scheduled to play a league game against KC-Wyandotte on Thursday at Topeka West.   

Hi Park girls place fourth in Glacier's Edge Tournament

Highland Park's dropped a 64-53 decision to traditional 6A power Derby on Saturday at Emporia, finishing fourth in the Glacier's Edge Tournament.

Now 5-3 on the season, the seventh-ranked (5A) Scots opened their tournament bid with a win over Free State before dropping a 62-46 semifinal decision to 6A Blue Valley, setting up Saturday's matchup with Derby.

The Panthers jumped out to a 22-10 first-quarter lead over the Scots and led 41-28 at the half and 55-37 at the start of the fourth quarter.

Highland Park outscored Derby 16-9 over the final eight minutes to cut its deficit to 11 points.

Angelique Gowan-Britt led the Scots with 18 points, 4 assists and 5 steals against Derby while freshman Pearmella Carter scored 14 points and registered five steals.

Carter scored 18 points in the Scots' semifinal loss to Blue Valley while Tahtionna Broils added 11 points.

Highland Park will return to action on Wednesday, facing seven-time defending 5A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas at Aquinas.

The Scots will travel to Wyandotte on Thursday for a Meadowlark Conference game.

Rossville boys take control late in 68-52 win over Bears

Rossville trailed district foe St. Marys by four points at halftime before pulling away in the second half for a decisive 68-52 Mid-East League win over the Bears.

The win over St. Marys was Rossville's sixth straight victory, pushing the Bulldawgs record to 8-4, which eclipses their win total from the 2023-2024 season.

The Bulldawgs led 13-7 at the end of the opening quarter but the Bears used a 25-15 second quarter (seven 3-pointers) to take a 32-28 lead at the break.

Rossville rallied in the third quarter to regain the lead at 47-46 and then turned in a dominating 21-6 fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Jack Donovan scored 22 points with five 3-pointers for the Bulldawgs while Kameron Bonura added 16 points, Mason Jones 14 and Cameron Miller 11 points.

Rossville will face St. Marys for the second straight game on Tuesday at St. Marys before hosting Rock Creek on Thursday and traveling to Wabaunsee on Friday.

Heights girls take consolation title at Glacier's Edge event

After a first-round loss to Blue Valley, Shawnee Heights' girls bounced back to post back-to-back wins in the Glacier's Edge Tournament at Emporia, including a 51-38 Saturday win over Hutchinson.

With the win over Hutch Shawnee Heights improved to 7-5 on the season while earning the consolation title (fifth place).

Heights will host Basehor-Linwood on Tuesday before traveling to Leavenworth on Friday.

West boys push win streak to four games in UKC rout

Topeka West has now posted four straight games to improve to 8-4 after Friday's 66-39 United Kansas Conference victory over Leavenworth at West.

The Chargers have a busy week ahead, traveling to Lansing on Tuesday and Piper on Thursday before hosting Kansas City-Turner on Friday. All three contests are UKC games for West.

Seaman boys take 14-point UKC road victory

Seaman posted a 59-45 United Kansas Conference win at Lansing Friday night, improving to 6-6 on the season.

The Vikings have now won two straight games and three of their last four.

Seaman will travel to Piper on Tuesday before hosting De Soto on Friday.

Hastert powers Cair Paravel girls past Ward

Sophomore Karsyn Hastert recorded her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 20 rebounds as Cair Paravel Latin's girls rolled to a 46-24 win over Kansas City-Bishop Ward Friday night.

With its win Cair Paravel improved to 3-8 on the season.

Cyclones top Cair Paravel boys, 57-49

Kansas City-Bishop Ward topped Cair Paravel Latin 57-49 in a Friday boys contest, with the Lions falling to 6-6 on the season.

Ward led 30-23 at halftime.

The Lions will travel to Heritage Christian on Tuesday before facing Marais des Cygnes Valley on the road Friday.

Silver Lake girls improve to 12-0

Silver Lake continued its dominating season on Friday with a 63-19 win over Sabetha, with the top-ranked (Class 3A) Eagles improving to a perfect 12-0 on the season.

Silver Lake has not had a game closer than 13 points on the season.

The Eagles will travel to Osage City on Tuesday before a Thursday night game at Clay Center and a Friday game at St. Marys.

Sabetha tops Silver Lake boys, 76-57

Silver Lake's boys fell to 7-5 on the season with Friday's 76-57 loss to Sabetha.

The Eagles will travel to Osage City on Tuesday before a Thursday night game at Clay Center and a Friday game at St. Marys.
