Washburn University soccer will take a six-match winning streak into its second consecutive weekend of home matches, with the Ichabods hosting Rogers State on Friday and Northeastern State on Sunday at Yager Stadium.

The Ichabods, who have won six straight games for the first time since 2008, will face Rogers State at 6 p.m. on Friday and Northeastern State on Sunday at 1 p.m. 

Washburn is 7-1-0 on the 2023 season after posting an 11-6-2 record, when the Ichabods finished sixth in the MIAA.

Two wins this week would give WU the longest winning streak in program history.

The Ichabods moved up from No. 6 to No. 4 in the Central Region of the United States Soccer Coaches Poll and received votes in the national poll for the first time this season.

Washburn returns 19 players from last season's roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen.

Washburn finished non-conference play with a 2-1 win over Fort Hays State last Friday and opened MIAA competition with a 4-0 win against Nebraska-Kearney. 

Raegan Wells started and won both games in goal last weekend, earning her third solo shutout of the season on Sunday

Wells has made 15 saves this season in 675 minutes. She has one three solo shutouts and combined with Washburn Rural product Hailey Beck and Alli Harrington to complete a third. 

Both Josie Boyle and Riley Painter scored their first career goals in the second half of the win over Nebraska-Kearney.

After the week the Ichabods are now 4-0 at Yager Stadium this season.

Washburn Rural product Mackinly Rohn, a freshman, is tied for third nationally with six assists on the year and she is also fifth nationally in assist per game at .75. She leads all MIAA players in both categories. 

Ana Muruzabal, whoe has scored four goals, is 35th in the nation in total points on the year with 11 and is tied for the lead among MIAA players. She is 76th nationally in goals per game.

Eight of her 11 total shots have been on goal.

Khloe Schuckman has scored three goals with two assists in 510 minutes. She is second on the team with 14 shots taken.

Viviana Soto-Herrera has three goals and one assist on the year and leads the Ichabods with 15 shots taken this year. She has stared all eight matches and is second among non-goalies with 512 minutes. 

All 29 players on the Ichabod roster have appeared in at least one match this season.

Washburn heads to the Show Me State next week for its first MIAA away contests, facing Missouri Western State at 6 p.m. next Friday and Northwest Missouri State at 1 p.m. on Sunday. 

Former Ichabod head coach Chris Jones is in his second season at Rogers State, which is 4-2-2 on the year.

Northeastern State is 2-2-4 on the season following a 1-1 tie with Central Oklahoma on Sunday.
