Sunday was WU's MIAA conference opener and its second win of the season over Nebraska-Kearney, stretching the Ichabods' win streak to six games.

Washburn had an advantage in shots from the start but was unable to get any of the first eight to land in the back of the net until the final minute of the first half when Jadyn Allen scored on a header off a free kick from Ana Muruzabal after a Loper handball on the right side of the field.

In the 55th minute Khloe Schuckman was fouled inside the box giving the Ichabods a penalty kick, which was deposited into the right corner of the goal off the foot of Viviana Soto-Herrera to give her a goal in back-to-back matches.

Two minutes later Washburn earned a corner kick from the right corner of the field and Washburn Rural product Mackinly Rohn lofted the ball into the box and Josie Boyle answered with a header into the right side of the net for her first career goal.

Rohn added to her MIAA lead with her sixth assist of the season.

The Ichabods added to the lead in the 73rd minute as Riley Painter was able to out-run a defender and shoot across the box into the left corner of the net for her first career goal. Londyn Furnish netted her first career assist on the goal.

Washburn was able to distribute the action across the board with 25 players appearing and logging at least 10 minutes.

Raegan Wells was the only player to play the entire match, making two saves in her 90 minutes in goal and earning her third solo shutout of the season.

The defense held Nebraska-Kearney to just four shots attempts in the game .The Ichabods took 19 shots as a team, with eight of those on goal.

Soto-Herrera led in shots with five while 10 different players took at least one shot.
