Coming off a 24-1 season and a third-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament, Highland Park's boys basketball team is off and running again, opening its season Tuesday night with a 90-33 non-league road win at Bonner Springs.

Highland Park, ranked No. 3 in 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, had four players crack double figures, led by senior Tamir Anderson, who scored a game-high 21 points on seven 3-pointers.
Junior Ja'Corey Robinson scored 19 points for the Scots, followed by senior Amari Taylor with 16 points (two 3-pointers) and junior Mikey Williams with 15 points.
Highland Park was in command after opening up a 28-12 first-quarter lead and the Scots took a 46-23 advantage to the locker room at halftime.
The Scots finished off the rout with a 44-10 scoring advantage in the second half, holding Bonner Springs scoreless in the fourth quarter. A running clock was used throughout the fourth.
Highland Park will return to action next Tuesday, traveling to Kansas City-Southeast, Mo.
HIGHLAND PARK GIRLS 52, BONNER SPRINGS 41
Highland Park, which advanced to the 5A state tournament a season ago, opened its season with a 52-41 non-league road win at Bonner Springs Tuesday night, getting a monster game from junior star Amelia Ramsey.

Ramsey, an All-Shawnee County pick last season, scored 21 points and grabbed 23 rebounds to key Highland Park's season-opening win.
Tahtionna Broils joined Ramsey in double figures for the Scots, finishing with 16 points.
Highland Park, ranked No. 10 in 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, will travel to Kansas City-Southeast, Mo. on Thursday.
ROSSVILLE BOYS 56, KC-WARD 48
Rossville evened its record at 1-1 with a 56-48 home win over Kansas City-Bishop Ward Tuesday night in the opening round of the Irish Classic.
The game was close throughout, with the Bulldawgs leading 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and using an 11-6 second-quarter advantage to take a 26-18 lead at the half.
Ward was within six (42-36) at the start of the fourth quarter, but Rossville outscored the Cyclones 14-12 over the final eight minutes to take the eight-point win.
Junior Mason Jones, a Topeka West transfer, paced the Bulldawgs with 16 points while sophomore Jack Donovan added 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Eight players scored for Rossville, including six with five or more points.
The Bulldawgs will play their final two Irish Classic games at Chapman Friday and Saturday.
ROSSVILLE GIRLS 105, KC-WARD 16
Rossville, ranked No. 7 in 3A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, rolled to a home 105-16 win over Kansas City-Bishop Ward Tuesday night in the first round of the Irish Classic.

Six Bulldawgs had nine or more points, led by sophomore Rylee Dick with 23 points, including three 3-pointers.
Freshman Nora Burdiek added 22 points, senior Emma Mitchell 17, senior Katie Spielman 11, Shyanne Haehn 10 points and senior Kinsey Perine nine.
Rossville put the game away with a 32-8 opening quarter and led 56-13 at the half and 88-16 after three quarters. The Bulldawgs held Ward without a point in the fourth quarter, with the Bulldawgs outscoring the Cyclones, 17-0.
The Bulldawgs will play the final two rounds of the Irish Classic at Chapman Friday and Saturday.
SHAWNEE HEIGHTS GIRLS 56, PIPER 42
Shawnee Heights evened its record at 1-1 with a 56-42 United Kansas Conference win at Piper Tuesday night as freshman KK Emmot had a breakout night for the T-Birds.
Emmot scored 24 points to lead Shawnee Heights and has now scored a total of 33 points in the first two games of her high school career.
Shawnee Heights will be at home Friday to host 0-2 Topeka West in a UKC contest.
PIPER BOYS 66, SHAWNEE HEIGHTS 58
Shawnee Heights dropped its second straight single-digit decision in the United Kansas Conference, with home-standing Piper topping the T-Birds, 66-58.
Shawnee Heights, 0-2, will be back at home Friday to host 2-0 Topeka West in a UKC matchup.
CPLS is scheduled to play a road game at Northland Christian on Friday.
CENTRALIA GIRLS 50, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 16
Cait Paravel Latin is still looking for its first win of the season after dropping a home 50-16 non-league decision to Centralia on Tuesday.
The Lions are scheduled to play a road game at Northland Christian on Friday.
DE SOTO BOYS 70, TOPEKA HIGH 38
No. 4-ranked (5A) De Soto rolled to a 70-38 win over Topeka High Tuesday night in the opening round of the Hardwood Classic at De Soto.
The Wildcats took control with a 20-6 first quarter and led 34-18 at halftime before cruising the rest of the way.
Topeka High, 1-1 on the season, will play a consolation Hardwood Classic game at De Soto on Thursday.
SILVER LAKE GIRLS 90, COUNCIL GROVE 18
Silver Lake, top-ranked in Class 3A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, improved to 2-0 with a 90-18 non-league romp past Council Grove Tuesday night at Council Grove.
Silver Lake will play a Mid-East League game at Riley County on Friday.
SILVER LAKE BOYS 59, COUNCIL GROVE 49
Silver Lake improved to 2-0 on the season Tuesday night, posting a 59-49 none-league win at Council Grove.
Silver Lake will play a Mid-East League game at Riley County on Friday.
