Seven of Shawnee County's most accomplished athletes in swimming and wrestling are among the second group of 10 women's honorees in TopSports.news' Shawnee County All-Time Top 100 project.
Picks 81-90, which also includes three local volleyball greats, features five former swimmers who were multi-time state champions, including Hayden's Kristin Strecker, who went on to swim at Nebraska, and Washburn Rural alums Haley Molden and Sammie Schurig, who went on to become standouts at Kansas, as well as former Hayden stars Kristen Carlson and Katie Merriam.
Washburn Rural's Dajia Anderson and Addison Broxterman, who helped Rural establish itself as the state's most dominant girls wrestling program, also earned Top 100 berths along with former county volleyball stars Sandy Werner of Washburn Rural, Seaman's Breanna Lewis and Silver Lake's Alyssa Schultejans.
Both Werner and Schultejans played at Kansas State while Lewis earned All-America honors at Washburn University and is a member of the WU Hall of Fame.

81. KRISTIN STRECKER, Hayden
Strecker was a multi-sport star at Hayden and won three Class 5A-1A state swimming titles and was named the 5A-1A Swimmer of the Year in 2010 before going on to swim collegiately at the Division I level for Nebraska. Strecker was also a four-time 4A cross country medalist, including fifth and sixth-place finishes, and was a multi-time state medalist in track and played basketball for the Wildcats. She notched 15 top-five performances as a senior for Nebraska, boosting her career total to 52.
82. HALEY MOLDEN, Washburn Rural
Molden captured seven Class 6A state swimming titles in 2010 and 2012, including four gold medals in '12 when Washburn Rural finished second as a team at state. Molden was named the 6A swimmer of the year as a senior and went on to swim for Kansas, earning honorable menion on the Jayhawks' All-Decade Team.

83. SAMMIE SCHURIG, Washburn Rural
Schurig won six Class 6A state swimming titles in 2010 and 2013, claiming three golds both seasons, before going to swim collegiately at the Division I level for Kansas. Schurig was a two-time 6A All-State pick at Rural and earned honorable mention on the Jayhawks' All-Decade Team.
84. SANDY WERNER, Washburn Rural
Werner starred for Washburn Rural and Kansas State volleyball, helping the Wildcats win their first Big 12 Championship and advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2003, going 30-5 overall and 18-2 in the conference. Werner was the only first-year player to play in the Sweet 16 match against Penn State that season. Werner finished with her career with over 1,100 career kills and helped the Wildcats reach the NCAA Tournament in '03, '04 and '05.
85. KRISTEN CARLSON, Hayden
Carlson captured six state swimming gold medals for Hayden from 1989-1991, capturing at least one state title all four seasons of her high school career.

86. BREANNA LEWIS, Seaman
The former Viking standout played Division I volleyball at Taxas A&M before transferring to Washburn, where she earned All-America honors. Lewis was a 2011 NCAA Division II AVCA All-American as a right-side hitter for WU and she was a three-time All-MIAA honoree. Lewis is a member of the Washburn Hall of Fame.
87. KATIE MERRIAM, Hayden
Merriam won four state swimming gold medals for the Wildcats in 1999 and 2000, sweeping the 50-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke both seasons.

88. DAJIA ANDERSON, Washburn Rural
Anderson, a 2021 Washburn Rural grad, became the first Shawnee County wrestler to win an official women's state championship in 2020 and the first two-time champ in 2021, leading Rural to back-to-back team championships. Anderson won the 191-pound title as a senior after winning at 235 as a junior.

89. ADDISON BROXTERMAN, Washburn Rural
Broxterman helped Rural's girls wrestling team capture three state team titles in four seasons. Broxterman's 146 career victories made her the winningest wrestler in Kansas history. Broxterman's 132 career wins by fall was also a state record and she set the Rural school record with 45 single-season wins. Broxterman was a three-time state medalist, a two-time state finalist and a four-time Centennial League champion.

90. ALYSSA SCHULTEJANS, Silver Lake
Schultejans finished her Silver Lake career as the state record-holder (all classes) in career kills with 1,985 and was the two-time Class 3A player of the year and a three-time All-3A first-team pick, leading the Eagles to back-to-back titles in 2013 and '14. Schultejans, who had 732 kills as a senior, went on to play at Kansas State, earning All-Big 12 Freshman honors in 2015.
