Highland Park’s boys basketball team reeled off its third straight win Friday night, rolling to a 63-37 Centennial League home victory over Hayden to climb to 6-5 on the season.

Highland Park, 5-3 in the league, is above the .500 mark for the first time this season after Friday’s win.

Highland Park trailed by 6 points early in the second quarter, but rallied for a 29-20 halftime advantage and cruised the rest of the way.

The Scots had four players crack double figures while limiting Hayden to no more than 11 points in a quarter and 17 second-half points.

Junior Juan’Tario Roberts paced Highland Park with 14 points while senior CJ Powell 13, sophomore Jahmir Kingcannon 12 and senior MuKhajhae Daniels 11. 

Sophomore Jake Muller scored 11 points to pace the Wildcats, who fell to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in the league.

LYNDON BOYS 71, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 41

Lyndon's boys, ranked No. 7 in Class 2A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, took advantage of a key Cair Paravel injury and also used their superior depth to pull away for a 71-41 win over the Lions.

Cair Paravel, which fell to 7-5 on the season, lost junior standout Zachary Clark to an ankle injury early in the game.

The Lions were still within 9 points late in the first half, but Lyndon put the game away with a 38-20 second half scoring advantage. 

Noah Hastert, a 6-foot-6 junior, led Cair Paravel with 19 points, while freshman Ethan Everhart added 8 points.

Luke Detweiler led the Tigers with 20 points while Miles Kitselman added 15 and Jackson Biggs 14.  

LYNDON GIRLS 33, CAIR PARAVEL 32

Lyndon’s Jolie Hielscher scored on a late-game layup to give the Tigers a 33-32 victory over the Lions.

Cair Paravel sophomore Sage Schwartz hit one of two free throws to give the Lions a 32-31 lead with 51 seconds left before Hielscher pulled out the win for Lynson.

Junior Jaley Barkley led 5-6 Cair Paravel with 15 points, but fouled out with 1:08 left to play and the score tied at 31-31.

Lyndon, which improved to 4-6, led 16-12 at halftime before Cair Paravel rallied for a 26-22 advantage entering the fourth quarter.”  

Abigail Criqui led Lyndon with 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Lauren Drum added nine points for Cair Paravel, which fell to 5-6.

SABETHA BOYS 49, SILVER LAKE 45

Silver Lake fell to 5-7 on the season, dropping its second straight tight decition. Friday's 49-45 loss to Sabetha (1-11) came on the heels of the Eagles' 82-76 loss to Santa Fe Trail.

Senior Dawson Wyre scored 15 points to lead Silver Lake, while junior Luke Womack added 12 points on 4 3-pointers.
