Defending Class 1A District 2 champion Rossville opened defense of its district crown with a 69-0 road romp past Maranatha Christian Academy Friday night.

Now 3-1 overall, the Bulldawgs put the game out of reach with a 34-point opening quarter and added 21 points to open up a 55-0 halftime cushion before scoring its final two touchdowns of the night in the third quarter.
Bulldawg senior Jack Donovan set the tone for the night when he returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.
Senior Conner Bush and senior Canann Mitchell followed Donovan's TD with 51 and 47-yard scores and Mitchell completed a 55-yard touchdown strike to Landen Lewis and a 42-yard scoring pass to senior Cameron Miller to close out the first quarter.
Andre Johnson opened the second-quarter scoring with a 31-yard run and Mitchell followed with an 11-yard TD pass to Lewis and a 27-yard scoring pass to Miller.
Dalen Dick scored on a 20-yard run and Ryder Foster scored from 3 yards out for the Bulldawgs' final touchdown.
Rossville will be at home next Friday to host Mission Valley.

Junior Blues roll to 31-7 road win
Washburn Rural improved to 3-1 on the season, equaling its win total from the 2024 campaign, with a wire-to-wire 31-7 non-league road romp past Blue Valley Northwest Thursday night.
The Junior Blues never trailed after getting a 35-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback John Hoytal to junior Jadyn Baum with 1:10 left in the first quarter.
A 36-yard pass play from Hoytal to junior Gavin Vantuyl set up a 4-yard TD run from Baum that put Washburn Rural in front 14-0 midway through the second quarter.
After Northwest cut its deficit to 14-7 junior Ryan Austin connected on a 28-yard field goal to put the Junior Blues in front 17-7 with 50 seconds left in the half.
Then, on Northwest's first play from scrimmage, senior Brody Haas returned a pass interception 25 yards for a TD to give the Junior Blues a commanding 24-7 halftime advantage. Haas would pick off a second pass later in the game.
Washburn Rural tacked on a 29-yard TD pass from Hoytal to senior Nate Selm with 43 seconds left in the third quarter.
Rural will be back at Bowen-Glaze Stadium next Friday to open Centennial League play against Topeka High, which is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Vikes post second straight UKC rout
After starting the 2025 season 0-2, Seaman has bounced back with back-to-back United Kansas Conference wins by a combined 117-6 margin, including Friday's 56-6 romp past Kansas City Turner at Seaman.
The Vikings, now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the UKC, jumped out in front 13-0 in the first quarter, but the Bears were still within a touchdown (13-6) at halftime before Seaman ran off the final 43 points of the night.
Seaman scored 34 points in the third quarter to open up a 47-6 advantage before adding nine points in the fourth.
Junior Josh Brown caught back-to-back TD passes from junior Cale Ketter to put Seaman up 33-6 and sophomore Quentin Moravec added a 25-yard scoring run and junior Coy Barta caught a 10-yard TD pass to give the Vikings a 47-6 advantage at the start of the fourth.
Seaman will travel to Lansing next Friday for a UKC matchup.
Eagles top Bears to open 2A district play
Silver Lake posted its second straight win Friday night at home, opening Class 2A District 3 play with a 21-6 win over Big East League foe St. Marys.
Silver Lake is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the district while St. Marys fell to 2-2, 0-1.
The Eagles will host Baldwin in a district game next Friday.
Pioneers ride early lead to 43-29 UKC win over T-Birds
Leavenworth built a 29-7 lead and survived a couple of Shawnee Heights rallies to take 43-29 home United Kansas Conference win over the T-Birds Friday night.
Heights (1-3 overall, 1-2 in the UKC) got within a touchdown in the fourth quarter at 36-29 before the Pioneers (3-1, 3-1) scored to account for the final margin.
The T-Birds will be at home next Friday to host De Soto.
