Five state placers headline the 2022 All-Shawnee County girls golf team, led by three-time medalist Lois Deeter of Seaman.

Deeter, a three-time All-City/All-Shawnee County selection, placed seventh in the Class 5A state meet at Hesston as a senior after finishing fifth in her previous two state tournaments.

Washburn Rural, which won its 10th straight city team title, put a county-high three golfers on the seven-member first-team, with the Junior Blues represented by seniors Mallory Nelson and Avery Scott and junior Raegan Petersen.

Nelson finished 11th and Petersen 15th in the 6A state meet at Salina as Rural finished fourth, just two strokes out of second, while Scott is a former state medalist.

Also earning spots on the seven-member All-Shawnee County first team were Hayden junior Avery Grunert, Topeka High junior Avery Zimmerman and Silver Lake sophomore Taylor Zordel.

Grunert tied for 14th in the 4A state tournament at Emporia to lead the Wildcats to a county-high third-place team finish while Zordel tied for seventh in the 3A-1A state meet at Hutchinson and Zimmerman competed in the 6A state tournament for the second straight season.

Deeter, Scott and Zimmerman are all-county first-team repeaters while Grunert, Nelson, Petersen and Zordel all move up to the first team after being second-team picks in 2021.

Named to this year's second team were Seaman junior Avery Samuelson and sophomore Jaycee Zimmerman, Hayden junior Hannah Reynoldson and freshman Izzy Glotzbach, Shawnee Heights senior Karlyn Bowman and Washburn Rural junior Lauren Cox and freshman Reece Randall.

All-Shawnee County first-team capsules:

LOIS DEETER, Seaman --  A senior, Deeter finished seventh in the 5A state tournament after winning city and United Kansas Conference individual titles and finishing second in regional competition. Deeter led Seaman to its first-ever league title by 51 strokes and to a regional team crown before earning her third state medal in as many high school golf seasons. Deeter placed fifth individually in 5A as a freshman and junior.

AVERY GRUNERT, Hayden -- Grunert, a junior, ended her season with a tie for 14th place in the 4A state tournament, helping lead the Wildcats to a third-place team finish for the second straight season. Grunert placed 10th in the city meet, was seventh in the Centennial League tournament and tied for 10th in 4A regional competition, helping Hayden qualify for state as a team with a second-place finish.

MALLORY NELSON, Washburn Rural -- Nelson finished her senior season with an 11th-place individual finish in the 6A state tournament, helping Washburn Rural finish fourth as a team, just two strokes out of second. Nelson finished eighth in the city tournament and posted fifth-place finish in the Centennial League before finishing eighth at regionals to help the Junior Blues earn a state team berth with a third-place finish.

RAEGAN PETERSEN, Washburn Rural -- Petersen, a junior, had a breakout season for the Junior Blues, capped by a 15th-place finish in the 6A state tournament as Washburn Rural finished fourth as a team, just two strokes out of second. Petersen was the city runner-up as Rural captured its 10th straight city team title and finished eighth in the Centennial League meet and tied for 14th in regional competition.

AVERY SCOTT, Washburn Rural --  A senior, Scott finished third in the city tournament, fourth in the Centennial League and eighth in 6A regional competition before finishing tied for 31st in the 6A state tournament for the fourth-place Junior Blues, who finished two strokes out of second. Scott is a former state medalist, tying for 12th as a junior as Washburn Rural finished second as a team.

AVERY ZIMMERMAN, Topeka High -- Zimmerman, a junior, qualified for the 6A state tournament as an individual for the second straight season and went on to finish in 46th place at state. Zimmerman placed seventh individually in the city tournament, 15th in the Centennial League tournament and earned her berth in the state tournament with a tie for 23rd place at regionals. 

TAYLOR ZORDEL, Silver Lake -- Zordel, a sophomore, earned her second straight 3A-1A state medal, posting a tie for seventh this fall after tying for 16th at state as a freshman. Zordel tied for sixth individually in 3A-1A regional competition, helping the Eagles earn a team berth for state with a fourth-place finish.
