Rossville's girls topped host Jefferson County North 57-41 on Saturday to win the tournament championship in the Jefferson County North Invitational.

The Bulldawgs jumped out to a 14-8 advantage in the first quarter and took a nine-point (26-17) lead at the half.

Jefferson County North used a 16-15 third quarter to cut the Bulldawgs' lead to 41-33 at the start of the fourth quarter, but Rossville closed with a 16-8 scoring edge over the final eight minutes to take the 16-point victory.

Senior Caylee Douglas led the Bulldawgs with 14 points while sophomore Kinley Porter added 13 points with three 3-pointers and sophomore Kinsey Perine had 12 points with a pair of 3s.

Sophomore Emma Mitchell scored eight points Saturday and was named to the all-tournament team along with Perine.

SPRING HILL GIRLS 55, HAYDEN 47 -- Hayden put itself in position to win the Top Gun Invitational championship on Saturday in Wellsville before foul problems and a strong fourth quarter by Spring Hill foiled the Wildcats' title bid.

After trailing 15-9 at the end of the first quarter, Hayden used a 19-10 second quarter to take a 28-25 halftime advantage.

The Wildcats outscored the Broncos 12-8 in the third quarter to take a 40-33 lead into the fourth, but Spring Hill, ranked No. 8 in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, closed with a 22-7 fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Sophomore Lauren Sandstrom led Hayden with 14 points, while senior Carly Stuke added 13 points and senior Macy Smith 12 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Sandstrom and Stuke hit two 3-pointers apiece for Hayden.

SHAWNEE HEIGHTS GIRLS 52, WICHITA SOUTH 39 -- Shawnee Heights' girls, ranked No. 9 in 5A, ended its appearance in Emporia's Glacier's Edge Invitational with a 52-39 win over 6A Wichita South.

With Saturday's win Shawnee Heights finished seventh in the tournament and improved to 6-5 on the season.

WASHBURN RURAL BOYS 51, EMPORIA 45 -- Washburn Rural and Emporia played a rare Saturday night Centennial League game, with the Junior Blues snapping a three-game losing streak with a 51-45 victory over the Spartans.

With Saturday's win the Junior Blues improved to 6-6 on the season.
