Cair Paravel Latin School girls soccer improved to 10-3-0 on the season with a 9-0 romp past Bishop Seabury Tuesday night.

Sophomore Katherine Keys and freshman Zahra Lewis combined for seven goals, with Lewis scoring four goals and Keys adding three. Sophomore Allison Schwarz was also credited with a goal for the Lions.

Lewis was also credited with two assists while junior Sage Schwarz, sophomore Kaitlyn Colombo and sophomore Corinne Stapleton also had assists.

The Lions have now won seven straight games.

EAGLES' BURKHARDT SIGNS WITH JCCC

Silver Lake senior multi-sport standout Taryn Burkhardt signed a letter of intent to play softball for Johnson County Community College on Wednesday at Silver Lake.

In addition to softball, Burkhardt also was a first team All-Mid-League selection in volleyball, was a member of the dance team and leader of Eagle Eye Photography.

She has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.90 grade point average.

CENTENNIAL LEAGUE SOFTBALL RACE STILL TIGHT

Washburn Rural softball remains a game up on Seaman in the Centennial League race, but the Vikings could pull even with a victory in a game that was suspended due to darkness on Tuesday at Kevin Hofmanns Field.

The Junior Blues handed the 10-3 Vikings their first league loss in a tight 3-2 Game 1 decision on Tuesday, but Seaman overcame an early 3-0 deficit to tie the second game at 6-6 before the game was stopped after eight innings. The game will be resumed at the start of the top of the ninth when it is rescheduled.

Seaman is scheduled to host Topeka High on Thursday, with the 14-2 Trojans currently two games back in the league race.

WAMEGO TOPS SILVER LAKE SOFTBALL

Silver Lake's softball team dropped a 4-1, 9-1 doubleheader to Wamego on Tuesday, with the Red Raiders improving to 14-0 on the season.

The Eagles were down by just a 2-1 margin after the top of the fifth in the first game, but Wamego added a pair of injurance runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Kira Lowrey and McKinley Kruger both went 2 for 3 in the opener, with Kruger knocking in Lowrey for the Eagles' lone run.

Wamego put Game 2 away early, scoring three runs in the first and two in the second before adding four runs in the fourth.

Silver Lake, 10-6 on the season, managed just two hits in the game, a Makenzie McDaniel double and a single by Taryn Burkhardt.
