After picking up a forfeit victory a week earlier, Rossville posted its second straight Class 1A District 2 win, and first on-field triumph, on Friday night, with the Bulldawgs rolling to a 43-0 decision over Mission Valley.
The Bulldawgs scored the only points they would need on a 1-yard Andre Johnson run (Vincent Daniel kick) at the 6:48 mark of the opening quarter and Rossville made it a 14-0 game with 2:10 left in the quarter on a 4-yard pass from Tayson Horak to Conner Bush (Daniel kick).
Rossville doubled up its lead with a pair of second-quarter TDs -- a 19-yard pass from Horak to Kameron Badura (Bush 2-point conversion run) 25 seconds into the quarter and a 1-yard Horak run (Daniel kick) with 8:35 left before halftime.
The Bulldawgs scored their final two touchowns of the night in the third quarter -- a 74-yard Bush run (Daniel kick) at the 10:36 mark and a 30-yard interception return from Bush with 8:30 left in the quarter (Daniel kick).
Rossville will be at home next Friday night to face Cair Paravel Latin in a district matchup.
SILVER LAKE 50, BALDWIN 0 -- Silver Lake posted its third straight win to improve to 4-1 on the season, rolling to a 50-0 non-league win over winless Baldwin.
The Eagles will return to Class 2A District 2 play next Friday, hosting Riley County.
DE SOTO 69, SHAWNEE HEIGHTS 57 -- Shawnee Heights junior quarterback Aiden Scott threw for six touchdowns, but the T-Birds couldn't keep pace with the Wildcats, who posted a 69-57 United Kansas Conference victory.
Shawnee Heights (1-4 overall, 1-3 UKC) was tied 21-21 at the end of the first quarter but De Soto used a 20-7 second quarter to take a 41-28 halftime advantage.
The Wildcats (4-1, 4-1) went up 55-35 at the end of the third quarter before the two teams combined for 36 fourth-quarter points, including 22 by the T-Birds.
Scott threw 19, 8 and 10-yard touchdown passes to AJ Gallegos, 47 and 32-yard TDs to Parker Busenitz and an 80-yard strike to Tyren Parker.
Scott also scored on a 4-yard run.
Shawnee Heights will be at home next Friday to host Seaman in a UKC matchup.
WICHITA EAST 74, HIGHLAND PARK 6 -- Highland Park scored early but the rest of the game belonged to the host Blue Aces, who posted a dominating 74-6 decision while handing the 4-1 Scots their first loss of the season.
Wichita East, now 3-2, scored 36 points in the opening quarter, the first points the Scots had given up all season, to take a commanding 36-6 lead.
The Blue Aces, a Class 6A quarterfinalist in 2023, made it a 44-6 game at the half and East scored 30 points in the second half.
Highland Park will travel to Atchison next Friday for a Meadowlark Conference game.
WABAUNSEE 40, CAIR PARAVEL LATIN 24 -- Cair Paravel got off to a hot start when Tobias Bonura returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown to give the Lions a 6-0 lead and the CPLS went up 12-7 on a Jase Pavlik rushing touchdown and 18-7on a 12-yard TD pass from Pavlik to Bonura.
But Wabaunsee cut its halftime deficit to 18-13, scored on three straight drives in the third quarter to take a 34-18 lead and added its final score in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin in the Class 1A District 2 game.
Wabaunsee's Cole Frank scored three touchdowns in the second half and five on the night.
Cair Paravel got its final TD on a 20-yard pass from Pavlik to Ben Roeder.
The Lions will play a district game at Rossville next Friday.
