Topeka West improved to 4-1 on the season with Friday's victory after surviving a third-quarter Manhattan rally.

The Chargers led 48-34 at halftime, but Manhattan got back in the hunt with a 22-14 third-quarter surge.

Topeka West put Manhattan away with a 16-9 fourth quarter.

MANHATTAN GIRLS 69, TOPEKA WEST 52 -- Manhattan kept Topeka West winless on the season at 0-5 while improving to 2-3 with Friday's home 69-52 Centennial League victory.

HAYDEN GIRLS 42, JUNCTION CITY 16 -- Hayden improved to 3-1 on the season with Friday's home Centennial League win over Junction City.

Senior Macy Smith scored 14 points to lead the way as the Wildcats put the Blue Jays away early on.

Hayden opened up an 18-8 first-quarter advantage and led 25-8 at the half and 39-9 at the end of the third quarter.

JUNCTION CITY BOYS 66, HAYDEN 49 -- The Wildcats were in the hunt for most of Friday's game against the undefeated Blue Jays before Junction City put the game away with a 17-9 fourth quarter.

Hayden led 10-9 at the end of the opening quarter and trailed by just a 30-24 margin at the half before Junction City opened up 49-40 third-quarter advantage.

Hayden fell to 1-3 on the season while Junction City improved to 5-0.

ROSSVILLE GIRLS 63, ATCHISON 25 -- Five Bulldawgs scored nine or more points as Rossville ended the pre-holiday portion of its schedule with a 4-1 record with Friday's 63-25 romp past Atchison.

Sophomores Kinsey Perine and Kinley Porter scored 12 points apiece for Rossville while senior Caylee Douglas and sophomore Emma Mitchell scored 10 points apiece and freshman Shyanne Haehn had nine.

Rossville opened up a big 21-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and was in command 41-15 at the half and 54-21 at the start of the fourth quarter.

ATCHISON BOYS 49, ROSSVILLE 40 -- Rossville led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter but Atchison rallied for a 31-22 halftime advantage and held off the Bulldawgs in the second half for the 49-40 win.

Junior Kade Perine led Rossville with 12 points while senior Brody Lietz and junior Francesco Patrizi added seven points each.

Rossville finished its pre-holiday scheduled with a 1-4 record.

ST. MARYS BOYS 62, SILVER LAKE 30 -- A nightmarish first half told the story in Friday night's game as St. Marys rolled to a 62-30 win.

Silver Lake was shut out in the first quarter and scored just two points in the second quarter as the Bears took command, 31-2.

The Eagles bounced back to hold a 19-16 scoring edge in the third quarter and the Bears outscored Silver Lake 15-9 in the fourth.

Carson Johnson led Silver Lake with five points.
