Washburn Rural's girls golf team got top-four finishes from senior Aliyah North and junior Avery Scott to lead the way as the Junior Blues claimed a Class 6A regional team championship Monday at Heritage Park Golf Course in Olathe.
North shot an 81 to finish second individually while Scott finished fourth with an 83 for the Junior Blues.
Washburn Rural got got a top-10 finish from sophomore Raegan Petersen, who tied for ninth with an 89 while senior McKenna Merrick tied for 11th with a 92 to round out the Junior Blues' top four as Rural won the team championship by a 345-359 margin over Olathe West.
Topeka High sophomore Avery Zimmerman was the top individual qualifier for the state tournament, tying for 11th with a 92.
The 6A state tournament will be played at Emporia Municipal Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday.
