WINCHESTER — It was championship Saturday at the Jefferson County North Tournament, with the Rossville Lady Dawgs, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, taking on the host school, the Jefferson North Chargers.The Bulldawgs' domination from the first two rounds of the tournament continued in the title game as Rossville upped its record to 11-1 with an 87-39 win.

Rossville jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and led 26-11 at the end of the first quarter.  JCN didn’t score their first field goal until three minutes remained in the quarter.

 

The Lady Dawgs expanded the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Chargers 20-13, taking a 46-24 lead into halftime.

The Lady Dawgs had four in double figures in the game, led by freshman Nora Burdiek with 26 points. Senior Emma Mitchell scored 16 points and also reached 1,000 points for her career while sophomore Rylee Dick tallied 15 points and senior Katie Spielman dropped in 12. Burdiek had nine rebounds and senior Kinsey Perine tallied eight assists.

 

The Lady Chargers were led by seniors Emily Langley with 13 points and Abby Laird scored 11.  Laird also grabbed 8 rebounds.

 

Rossville placed Perine, Mitchell, Dick and Burdiek on the all-tournament team.
