DeLeye scored early in the match off an assist from Mackinly Rohn and the Junior Blues blanked the Crusaders for the match to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Senior Hailey Beck picked up the shutout in goal for Washburn Rural.
Washburn Rural will return to action Tuesday against Blue Valley Southwest at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the Olathe Northwest tournament at the College Boulevard Activities Complex.
West earns softball split with 5A power Seaman
Topeka West softball posted a statement win in last Thursday's United Kansas Conference doubleheader at perennial Class 5A stalways Seaman, with the 2-2 Chargers taking a 6-3 first-game decision to end a long losing skid against the Vikings.

For the seventh time in her Ichabod career and third time this season, Washburn University's Jaycee Ginter has been named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 with a 0.00 earned run average in four appearances as the Ichabods went 4-0 with sweeps over Lincoln and Central Missouri.

Ginter posted two combined shutouts and a complete game, striking out 26 with two walks in 17.0 innings pitched while holding batters to a .140 batting average.
The former Shawnee Heights star tossed five innings in Friday's series opener against Lincoln, facing the minimum in five innings while striking out 10 Blue Tigers. She came in the second game in relief, tossing 2.0 innings and striking out five while allowing three hits.
In Saturday's first game against UCM, she tossed 7.0 innings while allowing three hits and holding the Jennies scoreless through 6 and 2/3 innings before UCM scored an unearned run. In the second game, Ginter tossed 3.0 innings in relief, striking out five with one walk.
The Ichabods will return to the field next weekend with conference twinbills at Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri.

A freshman, Chapman, Washburn Rural softball's leadoff hitter, opened the bottom of the first of Friday's Centennial League doubleheader against Topeka High with a solo home run. Chapman added a pair of doubles in the opener while knocking in a pair of runs and scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh in Rural's 4-3 win. In the nightcap, Chapman tripled and broke the game open with a three-run home run in the Junior Blues' 8-3 victory.
Jaycee Ginter
JAYCEE GINTER, Washburn University
Ginter, a junior, picked up three pitching wins as No. 21-ranked Washburn University softball swept MIAA foes Lincoln and Central Missouri Friday and Saturday. Ginter pitched five innings of no-hit ball with 10 strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Lincoln on Friday and picked up both wins on Saturday as the Ichabods took a pair of 2-1 wins over UCM. Ginter pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts while allowing only an unearned run in the first game against the Jennies and pitched three innings of shutout ball with five strikeouts in the second game, improving to 19-2 on the season.
Lenny Njoroge
LENNY NJOROGE, Topeka West
A returning Class 5A state medalist, Njoroge opened his senior track season with a pair of victories in last Thursday's Topeka West Invitational. Njoroge won the 1,600 meters by nearly 14 seconds in 4 minutes, 29.84 seconds and came back later in the evening to win the 3,200 by nearly 14 seconds in 9:45.51. Njoroge is also a three-time Class 5A state cross country medalist, including a fourth-place finish last fall.

Both of No. 21-ranked Washburn University's MIAA softball games against Central Missouri on Saturday went down to the wire, but that wasn't anything that Ichabod coach Brenda Holaday didn't expect.

Washburn took a pair of 2-1 wins over the Jennies to improve to 27-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference, but the Ichabods had to come through with a walkoff win in the first game and had to survive a seventh-inning threat by Central Missouri to complete the sweep at Gahnstrom Field.
"They're a great program and I feel like some of the kids in their lineup have been there eight years,'' Holaday said of the Jennies. "They're so good and so experienced and seasoned. They have some Topeka kids on their team that are great kids and have had great careers so you expect a dogfight against them for sure.
"A couple of years ago we had them here and split and then we went to their place for the tournament and they won two out of three and last year we're down there and go 12 innings and end up sweeping.''
In the opener Hadley Kerschen singled to left-center to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh after Central Missouri (18-11, 4-4) scored its lone run of the game in the top of the inning.
Washburn trailed for the only time all day in the second game after the Jennies scored a run in the top of the third, but freshman Erin Boles singled home both of the Ichabods' runs in the bottom of the fourth to put WU in front and Washburn shut out Central Missouri the rest of the way for the win.

No. 21-ranked Washburn softball picked up a pair of shutout MIAA wins on Friday, blanking the Lincoln Blue Tigers, 5-0 and 7-0 at Gahnstrom Field.
With Friday's sweep the Ichabods ran their winning streak over Lincoln to 16 games.

The Ichabods will be back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday, hosting Central Missouri in an MIAA doubleheader.
In Friday's first game, Washburn broke open a scoreless tie with a solo run in the bottom of the third when Jaycee Ginter drove in Hadley Herschen, who singled.
The Ichabods (25-5 overall, 4-2 MIAA) stretched their lead to 5-0 in the fourth inning with a two-out rally, taking advantage of two Lincoln errors.
