Washburn University soccer will play its first home matches of 2023 at Yager Stadium this weekend, hosting Southwest Minnesota State at 6 p.m. Friday and Wayne State College at 1 p.m. Sunday in a pair of non-conference matches.

Washburn is 1-1-0 so far in the 2023 season and has won its last three home games.

Washburn returns 19 players from last season's roster while adding two transfers and seven freshmen.

The Ichabods took a season-opening 2-0 victory over Drury before dropping a 3-1 decision to Missouri-St. Louis. 

Junior standout Khloe Schuckman is tied for 42nd nationally averaging 2.5 points per game and stands all alone at first in the MIAA.

Schuckman has scored a goal in both games this season with an assist in the first. She has two shots on goal this season, both going for goals. 

Washburn Rural grad Belle Kennedy is tied for 37th nationally with 2.5 shots on goal per game, good for second in the conference 

Lakin Rold and Jordan Tenpas have both played all 180 minutes of action on defense for Washburn, helping secure one shutout.

Goalkeeper Raegan Wells also logged all 180 possible minutes over the weekend, with one shutout.

This is the third straight season that Wells has been in goal for a season-opening shutout effort. 

Washburn Rural product Mackinly Rohn started as a true freshman for the Ichabods in the season-opener, logging 103 minutes in her first collegiate games.

Twenty players have made appearences so far for Washburn, with 18 playing in both contests. 

After this weekend's home tilts Washburn will go on the road to face Emporia State and Nebraska-Kearney next weekend in non-conference contests. 

The Ichabods' first official MIAA match will be Sunday, Sep. 24, at home against Nebraska-Kearney. 

Southwest Minnesota State is 0-2 this season and coming off a 3-0 loss to Central Missouri last Sunday. 

Wayne State is 2-0 on the season, including a 4-0 home win over William Jewell in their most recent game.
