Former Silver Lake star Shannon Kruger and former Hayden star Corrinne (Stringer) McGreevy are returning to their alma maters as head coaches, part of a group of 18 new varsity head coaches who have been announced by Shawnee County high schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

Kruger, a former Silver Lake multi-sport standout and a Washburn University Hall of Famer, takes over as the Eagles' head boys basketball coach, while McGreevy is the new Hayden volleyball coach after starring for the Wildcats in that sport.

Joining Kruger as a new head coach for Silver Lake is Colt Rogers, who is taking over as the Eagles' wrestling coach, while former Shawnee Heights star and Cair Paravel Latin coach Trey Brown is Hayden's new boys basketball coach.

Chip Kueffer will coach the Cair Paravel boys basketball team this fall, taking over for Brown, while Cory Clutter will coach the Lions' girls tennis team, which will launch its program this fall.

Highland Park boys tennis coach Isaach Johnson will also take over as the Scots' volleyball coach this fall while Cherie Proctor will coach the Hi Park girls tennis team.

Former Washburn Rural standout Danielle Dodge will coach the Rossville volleyball team this fall while Noah Cross will take over as the Bulldawgs' golf coach and Cauy Weil will coach Rossville's boys wrestling team.

Phil Hamilton will begin his first season as Shawnee Heights' tennis coach.

Brent Reece-Hackett has been named Topeka West's girls basketball coach while former Shawnee Heights coach and veteran Charger assistant Lynn Riney will coach West's girls and boys golf teams. Trey Parker, who finished the 2022 season as the Chargers' interim football coach, begins his first full season as the West head coach. 

West still has coaching positions to fill in boys and girls swimming and diving and boys and girls bowling.

Former Seaman star and Topeka West coach Janson Garman will take over as Washburn Rural's boys swimming and diving coach this winter while Joy Marie Galliart is the Junior Blues' new softball coach, succeeding Liz Stover who accepted a new job in the Kansas City area after leading Rural to back-to-back runnerup state finishes in Class 6A.

Seaman and Topeka High are expected to return all of their head coaches from 2022-2023 for this school year.

Listed below are the new head coaches confirmed for 2023-2024:

CAIR PARAVEL LATIN -- Cory Clutter (girls tennis), Chip Kueffer (boys basketball).

HAYDEN -- Trey Brown (boys basketball), Corrinne McGreevy (volleyball).

HIGHLAND PARK -- Isaach Johnson (volleyball), Cherie Proctor (girls tennis).

ROSSVILLE -- Noah Cross (girls/boys golf), Danielle Dodge (volleyball), Bryce Gfeller (girls wrestling), Couy Weil (boys wrestling)..

SEAMAN -- No coaching changes.

SHAWNEE HEIGHTS -- Phil Hamilton (girls/boys tennis)..

SILVER LAKE -- Shannon Kruger (boys basketball), Colt Rogers (boys/girls wrestling).

TOPEKA HIGH -- No coaching changes.

TOPEKA WEST -- Trey Parker (football), Brent Reese-Hackett (girls basketball); Lynn Riney (girls/boys golf). Note: boys and girls swimming and diving and girls/boys bowling to be announced.

WASHBURN RURAL -- Joy Marie Galliart (softball), Janson Garman (boys swimming and diving).
