Seaman freshman bowler Dylan Hunt and Hayden junior basketball standout Brylee Meier have been selected by the Dan Key Farmers Insurance Agency as the Rising Stars of the Week.
The Dan Key Agency will recognize top Shawnee County underclassmen throughout the bulk of the 2023-2024 school year.
Here’s a brief look at the accomplishments of Hunt and Meier over the past week:
DYLAN HUNT, Seaman
A freshman bowler, Hunt earned the individual title in Tuesday's Seaman quadrangular at West Ridge Lanes, helping the Vikings win the team title.
Hunt bowled a 639 three-game series, highlighted by a final-game 279.
After an open frame in the first frame of his third game Hunt reeled off 11 straight strikes to finish off his 279, helping the Vikings win the team championship by a 164-pin margin over Lansing (2,365-2,201).
BRYLEE MEIER, Hayden
A 6-foot junior, Meier helped No. 2-ranked (Class 3A) Hayden post three straight double-figure victories en route to the tournament championship in last week's Hiawatha Invitational.
An All-Tournament selection, Meier led the Wildcats in scoring in two of the three tournament games, including 17 points in Saturday's 55-45 win over Lafayette, Mo. in the tournament championship game.
Meier also led Hayden with 14 points in a 58-25 first-round win over Jackson Heights.
