In her first year competing in track and field as a senior, Anderson eclipsed her previous personal-best by more than a foot and a half en route to winning the Class 5A state girls shot put championship with a throw of 37 feet, 7 inches last Thursday at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium.

Canady, a junior pitcher, turned in a masterful performance in the Class 6A state softball tournament, leading Topeka High to its first-ever state softball title. Canady recorded three complete-game performances, allowing just one unearned run while striking out 48 batters as the Trojans capped a perfect 25-0 season. Canady also hit the game-winning home run in a 1-0 semifinal win over Gardner-Edgerton.

JAKE MULLER, Hayden

Competing in his first state track and field meet, the Wildcat sophomore ran a personal-record time of 39.92 seconds en route to winning the Class 4A state championship in the 300-meter hurdles last Thursday at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium. Muller also earned a state medal as a member of Hayden's fifth-place 4x400 relay team in 3:31.88.

WOODROW REZAC, Rossville

Rezac, a senior, won the Class 3A state championship in the 200-meter dash in last Friday's state track and field meet at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium, clocking a winning time of 22.15 seconds. Rezac, who helped the Bulldawgs win the 2A state football championship last fall, also finished second in the 100-meter dash in 10.74 seconds.

JEREMIAH SMITH, Shawnee Heights

A sophomore, Smith swept Class 5A state championships in all three of his individual events in his state meet debut last Thursday at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.52 seconds, the 200-meter dash in 21.92 and the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.74.

MARQUEL RUSSELL and ZSAMAR SIPPLE, Washburn Rural

Russell, a senior, and junior Sipple both claimed Class 6A state track and field titles for the Junior Blues last Thursday at Wichita State's Cessna Stadium, with Russell winning the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.79 seconds and Sipple taking the long jump crown with a jump of 22 feet.
