A junior, Canady picked up the pitching wins in both ends of Friday's 6-3, 10-1 doubleheader softball sweep over Seaman, throwing a four-hitter and striking out 13 in the opener and combining with sophomore Quincy Smith for a four-hitter in the second game. Canady pitched the first five innings in the second game, allowing four hits and a run while striking out seven.

Caryl, a senior catcher, had another big day at the plate for 8-0 Topeka High last Friday, going 4 of 5 with three home runs, a triple and seven runs batted in as the Trojans took a 6-3, 10-1 doubleheader sweep over Centennial League rival Seaman. Caryl, an Illinois signee, had a triple and a two-run homer in the opener against the Vikings and hit two-run and three-run homers in the nightcap.

TYLER CLARK-CHIAPPARELLI, Washburn University

Clark-Chiapparelli, a sophomore left-fielder, drove in the tying and winning runs as WU baseball pulled out a 5-4 win over Emporia State in the second game of Sunday's twinbill to earn a series win over the Hornets. Chiapparelli plated the tying run with a sacrifice fly and knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth with a single. Chiapparelli also had two hits and scored twice in a 13-10 first-game loss to ESU.

ALYSSA DROGE, Hayden

A sophomore pitcher, Droge turned in strong pitching performances in both games as Hayden's softball team picked up 11-0 and 8-2 wins at Emporia last Friday, the Wildcats' first victories of the season. Droge threw a one-hit, eight-strikeout performance in the first game and followed that with a seven-hit, five-strikeout game in the nightcap.

Leonetti, a junior, shot a 74 to finish sixth individually in last Thursday 11-school Washburn Rural Invitational golf tournament at Wamego Country Club, pacing the host Junior Blues to a third-place team finish.

AVERY and TAUREN WALZ, Seaman

Freshman twin sisters Tauren and Avery both claimed four gold medals for the Vikings in last Thursday's Topeka Invitational swimming and diving meet, taking two individual wins and swimming on two winning relays. Tauren won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 3.03 seconds and the 100 butterfly (1:03.19) while Avery won the 200 individual medley (2:16.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.98). Tauren and Avery teamed with Gabby Grace and Samantha Shea to win the 200 free relay (1:48.49) and the 400 free relay (3:57.12).
