Heights. The Wildcats, No. 2 ranked in Class 3A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, are coming off a 55-29 non-league win over Shawnee Heights. Senior Lauren Sandstrom scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Wildcats against Heights while junior Norma Greco added 14 points. Hayden will play Marysville at 7 p.m. on Thursday while all place games will be played on Saturday, capped by the championship game at 4:30 p.m.

ROSSVILLE vs. ATCHISON COUNTY

At Jefferson County North Invitational

Rossville (8-1) will face Atchison County in a 7:30 p.m. first-round game Tuesday night in the Jefferson County North Invitational. The Bulldawgs, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A by the KBCA, played a Mid-East League game on Friday night, rolling to a 72-37 win over St. Marys. Rossville had five players crack double figures against the Bears, led by freshman Nora Burdiek with 17 points. Sophomore Rylee Dick scored 13 points while senior Kinsey Perine added 12 points, junior Shyanne Haehn 11 and senior Emma Mitchell 10 points. The Rossville-Atchison County winner will advance to a 6 p.m. semifinal on Friday to face the winner of the first-round game between Oskaloosa and Perry-Lecompton. All place games will be played on Saturday, capped by the championship game at 4:30 p.m.

WASHBURN RURAL vs. LAWRENCE 

At Capital City Classic at Seaman

Washburn Rural (6-2) will open the 2024 Capital City Classic at 3 p.m. Thursday with a first-round game against Lawrence (5-4). The Junior Blues will be playing for the first time in 15 days when they face the Lions, with Rural idle since a 56-26 home Centennial

Topeka High (2-7) faces a tough first-round game at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, taking on an undefeated Wichita Heights team (9-0). Topeka High has been off a 61-32 Centennial League loss to Hayden on Jan. 12. Sophomore Keimara Marshall led the Trojans with 13 points against the Wildcats. The Wichita Heights-Topeka High winner will advance to a 6:30 p.m. Friday semifinal to face the winner of the first-round game between Washburn Rural and Lawrence. All place games will be played on Saturday, with the championship game set for a 2:30 p.m. tipoff.

SEAMAN vs. SHAWNEE MISSION WEST

At Capital City Classic at Seaman

Tournament host Seaman, ranked No. 3 in 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, will put its perfect 9-0 record on the line at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against 3-7 Shawnee Mission West. Seaman is coming off a 64-15 United Kansas Conference win over Lansing on Friday. Junior Anna Becker had 20 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds for the Vikings while sophomore Maddie Gragg had 13 points with three 3-pointers and five rebounds and Ava Esser and Taylin Stallbaumer added nine points apiece. The Seaman-Shawnee Heights winner will move on to an 8:15 p.m. semifinal Friday night to face the first-round winner between Wichita South and Topeka West.

WICHITA SOUTH vs. TOPEKA WEST

At Capital City Classic at Seaman

Topeka West enters the Capital City Classic after a big 55-36 home United Kansas Conference victory over Leavenworth on Friday. With that win Angie Ketterman's Chargers improved to 4-5 overall and 3-5 in the UKC. West sophomore Imani McGlory turned in a monster performance against the Pioneers, scoring 29 points while connecting on seven 3-pointers. Now the Chargers face a tough test against 7-2 Wichita South. The South-West winner will advance to an 8:15 Friday night semifinal to take on the first-round winner between Seaman and Shawnee Mission West. All place games will be played on Saturday, with the title game scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

HIGHLAND PARK vs. FREE STATE

At Glacier's Edge Invitational at Emporia

Highland Park, ranked No. 7 in 5A by the KBCA, will get an opportunity to play for the first time since Jan. 9 when it takes the floor for a 5:30 p.m. first-round game against Lawrence Free State (1-9). Highland Park's last game was a 64-23 Meadowlark Conference romp past Kansas City-Sumner Academy. Ironically, Free State's most recent game also came against Sumner, with the Firebirds picking up their first win in a 56-50 win over the Sabres last Thursday. The Highland Park-Sumner winner will advance to a 6:15 p.m. semifinal on Friday to take on the first-round winner between Blue Valley and Shawnee Heights.

BLUE VALLEY vs. SHAWNEE HEIGHTS

At Glacier's Edge Invitational at Emporia

Shawnee Heights (5-3) will open its Glacier's Edge tournament bid at 7 p.m. Thursday against a 7-2 Blue Valley team. Shawnee Heights is coming off a 55-29 non-league road loss at Hayden last Tuesday. The Blue Valley-Shawnee Heights winner will play a 6:15 p.m. semifinal on Friday against the first-round winner between Highland Park and Free State. Freshman KK Emmot paced the T-Birds against Hayden with 10 points. All Glacier's Edge place games will be played on Saturday, with the championship game scheduled for 2 p.m.
