City swimmers combined to win seven events in Wednesday's season-opening Topeka West Invitational at the Capitol Federal Natatorium, led by double individual winner Luke Perkins of Shawnee Heights and three-event gold medalist Jack Miranda of Washburn Rural.

Perkins won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly and also swam on the T-Birds' second-place 200 medley and 200 free relays while Miranda won the 200 freestyle and swam on the Junior Blues' winning 200 free and 400 free relays. Miranda also finished second in the 500 freestyle.

Shawnee Heights Guillaume Humblet was the champion in the 100 freestyle while Washburn Rural's Brogan Meier won the 500 free as the Junior Blues finished second as a team behind Olathe Northwest. Humblet also finished second in the 100 breaststroke.

Rural's Nathen Trachta swam on the Junior Blues winning 200 free and 400 free relays while Meier swam on the 400 free relay and Cordell Dimick and Will Powell swam on the winning 200 free relay.

Topeka High's Jaxon Cowdin posted a third-place finish in one-meter diving.
