Hayden placed third in Class 4A to pace Shawnee County's girls golf teams in Tuesday's final day of state competition.

Led by individual state medalist Avery Grunert, the Wildcats finished with a 36-hole team score of 765 earn the third-place trophy by one stroke over Wellington (766) and three strokes behind runner-up Winfield (762). Wamego ran away with its second straight team title by 88 strokes with a four-person score of 674.

Grunert, a junior, tied for 14th with a two-day total of 185, shooting a 92 on Tuesday to follow up a first-round 93

Freshman Lauren Borjon was next in line for the Wildcats at 191 (98-93), earning a 20th-place medal, while junior Hannah Reynoldson finished in a tie for 21st at 192 (98-94).

Junior Kyleigh Johnson finished at 202 (106-96), freshman Izzy Glotzbach at 204 (101-103) and sophomore Addysen Baer at 223 (111-112) to round out the Wildcats' team.

Wamego freshman Addison Douglass won the individual championship at 150 with rounds of 74 and 76, earning medalist honors by 17 strokes over senior teammate Ashton Pierson (77-90).

CLASS 6A

Washburn Rural missed a 6A team trophy by the narrowest of margins, finishing fourth by one stroke to third-place Olathe West and just two strokes behind runner-up Shawnee Mission East.

The Junior Blues, who were second after the opening round, finished with a four-person 36-hole team score of 652 while Olathe West finished at 651 and SM East at 650. Olathe Northwest won the team title by 19 strokes at 650.

Senior Mallory Nelson finished 11th in 6A with a two-day total of 159 (82-77) while junior Raegan Petersen finished 15th at 163 (81-82) and freshman Lauren Cox in a tie for 18th at 166 (81-85).

Sophomore Reece Randall narrowly missed a state medal, finishing 22nd at 168 (81-87) while senior Avery Scott finished at 173 (90-83) and sophomore Natalie Peterson at 180 (88-92).

Topeka High junior Avery Zimmerman shot a 98 on Tuesday to finish at 183 after an opening 85.

CLASS 5A

Senior standout Lois Deeter completed her banner high school career with her third state medal, finishing seventh at 156 after a pair of 78s at Hesston Golf Course.

Sophomore Avery Samuelson finished in a four-way tie for 18th place at 177, following up her opening-round 85 with a 92 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jaycee Zimmerman finished at 187 (88-99), freshman Makenna Stuke at 189 (96-93), junior Riley Adams at 196 (96-100) and sophomore Anna McLaughlin at 218 (101-117).

Seaman finished sixth as a team with a 36-hole team total of 709.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the team title by 25 strokes over Centennial League champion Emporia (650-675).

Shawnee Heights junior Karlyn Bowman shot a 108 on Tuesday after a first-round 93 to finish at 201.

CLASS 3A-1A

Sophomore Taylor Zordel tied for seventh individually in 3A-1A to lead Silver Lake to a fourth-place tie as a team.

Zordel earned her second straight individual medal with a 36-hole total of 176, shooting 88 in both rounds.

Silver Lake junior Madeline Fieger tied for 24th place at 191 (95-96), followed by senior Tristyn Boxberger at 203 (99-104), junior Avri Broxterman at 207 (102-105), senior Jaiden Whitehead at 209 (98-111)  and junior Kate Osterhaus at 221 (109-112).

The Eagles finished with a two-day team total of 773 along with Hoisington. Caney Valley was third at 769 to claim the third-place team trophy.

St. Marys Colgan won the team title by 57 strokes over Colby (660-717).
