Washburn Rural sophomore bowler Logan Glinka and Seaman junior bowler JaeLinn Thetford have been selected by the Dan Key Farmers Insurance Agency as the Rising Stars of the Week.

The Dan Key Agency will recognize top Shawnee County underclassmen throughout the bulk of the 2022-2023 school year.

Here’s a brief look at the accomplishments of Glinka and Thetford over the past week:

LOGAN GLINKA, Washburn Rural

Glinka placed seventh individually in his first Class 6A state bowling tournament last Friday at Wichita's Northrock Lanes with a 696 series while helping Washburn Rural capture the state team title by a 135-pin margin over Olathe Northwest

Glinka bowled games of 205, 254 and 237 as the Junior Blues built a precarious 11-pin advantage through the three American Ten-Pin games and then buried the field in the four Baker format games.

Rural's winning 3,711 pin total was the most ever scored by a 6A team in the state tournament.

JAELINN THETFORD, Seaman

After narrowly missing a state medal as a sophomore, Thetford bowled a 624 series to finish third individually last Thursday in the Class 5A-1A state tournament at Northrock Lanes in Wichita to help Seaman earn the third-place team trophy.

Great Bend claimed the team title by a 3,161-3,078 margin over Salina South, with Seaman third at 3,007, 109 pins in front of fourth-place Buhler for the final team trophy.

Thetford's performance in this year's state tournament came after she finished 22nd in the 2022 state meet for the state-champion Vikings.
