Topeka West 2022 Class 5A state doubles champions Ian and Miles Cusick earned a chance to defend their title next week at Arkansas City with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win over Blue Valley Southwest senior Vishal Rajkuman and freshman Saket Jagannath in Friday's regional title match as the Chargers won the team championship by a 20-19 margin over Southwest at Kossover Tennis Center.

All six of Topeka West's regional entries qualified for state.

Topeka West senior Carter Cool finished third in singles with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win over Blue Valley Southwest junior Emmett Wirth while the Charger junior doubles team of Caden McGee and Caleb Weybrew finished third with a 6-4, 6-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas sophomores Maverick Farrar and Patrick Lacy.

Topeka West finished second in 5A in the 2022 state tournament.

The '23 state tournament will get under way Friday at Arkansas City.

Hayden posts one-two doubles finish on way to 4A regional title

Hayden senior Gus Glotzbach and junior Joseph Luke topped Wildcat senior teammates Eli Wahlmeier and Daxton Ham, 6-0, 6-3, in Friday's Class 4A regional doubles final at Kossover Tennis Center, with the Wildcats claiming the team championship by a 22-20 margin over Bishop Miege.

Hayden qualified its entire team for next Friday and Saturday's 4A state meet at Pratt.

Wildcat senior Chris Hayes and Evan George finished third and fourth in singles, with Hayes taking a 6-4, 6-2 win over George.

Casebeer powers Rural to 6A regional crown

Senior Mason Casebeer claimed the Class 6A regional singles title Friday at Wichita's Riverside Tennis Center to lead the way as Washburn Rural won the regional team championship by a 19-15 margin over Centennial League rival Manhattan.

Casebeer, now a three-time state qualifier, took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wichita East sophomore Bo Lu in the singles final while Washburn Rural qualified its entire team for the 6A state meet next Friday and Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center.

Rural's doubles team of junior Dylan Dodge and freshman Keegan Knudtson advanced to the final before dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Derby senior Isaak Bowman and junior Hayden Carrillo.

Rural junior Lawson Labatos finished fifth in singles while senior Kiefer Von Lintel and freshman Dylan Willingham finished fifth in doubles.
