City athletes swept victories in all 12 events in Thursday's Topeka High Invitational swimming and diving meet at the Capitol Federal Natatorium, with Washburn Rural and Seaman combining for 11 wins en route to one-two team finishes.
Washburn Rural won five events and finished the meet with a team score of 485 points while Seaman had six wins and finished second with 376 points. Hayden was third with 327 points.
The champion Junior Blues got a pair of individual wins from Makenna Pritchard in 50-yard freestyle (26.05 seconds) and the 500 free (5 minutes, 43.07 seconds), Ellie Armstrone in one-meter diving (195.80 points) and Mara Bare in the 100 backstroke (1:03.31) while the Rural team of Aubrey Fritsch, Jeissca Ndungu, Bare and Pritchard won the 200 medley relay in 2:03.20.
Seaman's Tauren Walz and Avery Walz combined for four individual victories, with Tauren winning the 200 freestyle (2:03.03) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.19) and Avery winning the 200 individual medley (2:16.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.98) while the Viking team of the Tauren Walz, Avery Walz, Gabby Grace and Samantha Shea won the 200 free relay (1:48.49) and the 400 free relay (3:57.12).
Hayden picked up a win from Audrey Kuta in the 100 freestyle (58.63) while the Wildcats got second-place finishes from Tatum Trent in diving, Hope Mattivi in the 100 breastroke and the 200 medley relay.
Shawnee Heights' Audrey Cape finished second in the 200 freestyle while Topeka High's Makayla Geil was second in the 100 free.
