Cair Paravel Latin Class 3A-1A state doubles finalists Eric Buchenau and Drew Fay headline the 2025 All-City boys tennis team, which includes seven state medalists and 12 state qualifiers. 

Buchenau and Fay, both juniors, went 29-2 on the season, with both losses coming against Wichita Collegiate's undefeated state champions, Carter and Maddox Drumright, who took a three-set win over Cair Paravel in the state final.

Hayden seniors Chase Blaser and Evan George placed fourth in 4A doubles while Washburn Rural juniors Cale Deutscher and Dylan Willingham finished seventh in 6A doubles and Cair Paravel freshman Cole Fay was 10th in 3A-1A singles.

All six Washburn Rural players earned All-City spots as the Junior Blues swept city, Centennial League and Class 6A regional team championships before finishing ninth in the 6A state tournament at Junction City.

In addition to Deutscher and Willingham, Rural is also represented on the All-City team by Greyson Jones, Keegan Knudtson, Kieffer O'Connor and Ben Tryhus.

Rounding out the All-City team are junior city No. 1 singles champion and 6A state qualifier Tres Lassiter and Seaman senior 5A state singles qualifier Ethan Winters, who helped lead the Vikings to United Kansas Conference and 5A regional team titles.

CHASE BLASER, Hayden -- Blaser, a senior, teamed with senior Evan George to post a fourth-place doubles finish on Saturday in the Class 4A state tournament in Winfield. Blaser and George won a 4A regional championship, finished third in the city meet in No. 1 doubles and also posted a second-place finish in the Centennial League. Blaser is an All-City repeat pick.

ERIC BUCHENAU, Cair Paravel Latin -- A junior foreign exchange student from Germany, Buchenau teamed with junior Drew Fay to finish second in doubles in the Class 3A-1A state tournament Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center. Buchenau and Fay, who went 29-2 on the season, captured the city championship in No. 1 doubles and also won a regional title. 

CALE DEUTSCHER, Washburn Rural -- Deutscher, a junior, teamed with junior Dylan Willingham to finish seventh in Class 6A doubles Saturday in Junction City. Deutscher and Willingham won Centennial League and regional doubles championhips after finishing second in No. 1 doubles in the city meet. Deutscher is an All-City repeater, winning the city No. 2 doubles title as a sophomore.

COLE FAY, Cair Paravel Latin -- Fay finished off his freshman season with a 10th-place singles finish in Saturday's Class 3A-1A state tournament at Kossover Tennis Center. Fay qualified for the state tournament with a regional championship, helping the Lions win the team title, and finished fourth in the city in No. 1 singles.

DREW FAY, Cair Paravel Latin -- A junior, Fay teamed with Eric Buchenau to finish second in doubles in the Class 3A-1A state tournament Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center. Fay and Buchenau, who went 29-2 on the season, captured the city championship in No. 1 doubles and also won a regional title. Fay is a three-time 3A-1A state qualifier, posting a fourth-place singles finish as a sophomore. He is an All-City repeat pick.

EVAN GEORGE, Hayden -- A senior, George teamed with senior Chase Blaser to post a fourth-place doubles finish on Saturday in the Class 4A state tournament in Winfield. George and Blaser won a 4A regional championship, finished third in the city meet in No. 1 doubles and also posted a second-place finish in the Centennial League.

GREYSON JONES, Washburn Rural -- Jones earned his spot on the All-City team with the No. 2 singles championship in the city tournament and also posted a fifth-place singles finish in the Centennial League tournament. Jones helped the Junior Blues capture team championships in city, Centennial League and regional competition.

KEEGAN KNUDTSON, Washburn Rural -- Knudtson, a junior, earned All-City recognition for the third straight season after posting a runnerup No. 1 singles finish in the city tournament. Knudtson also finished third in singles in the Centennial League tournament and posted a third-place regional finish to earn his third straight state tournament berth.

TRES LASSITER, Topeka High -- A junior, Lassiter captured the city title in No. 1 singles in his first season of high school tennis. Lassiter also posted a runnerup singles finish in the Centennial League and Class 6A regional tournaments and posted a 2-2 singles record in his first Class 6A state tournament at Junction City.

KIEFFER O'CONNOR, Washburn Rural -- O'Connor, a junior, teamed with junior Ben Tryhus to win the city championship in No. 2 doubles. O'Connor and Tryhus also posted a fourth-place doubles finish in the Centennial League tournament and qualified for the Class 6A state tournament with a third-place regional finish. O'Connor and Tryhus helped Rural win city, league and regional team titles. 

BEN TRYHUS, Washburn Rural -- A junior, Tryhus teamed with junior Kieffer O'Connor to win the city championship in No. 2 doubles. Tryhus and O'Connor also posted a fourth-place doubles finish in the Centennial League tournament and qualified for the Class 6A state tournament with a third-place regional finish. Tryhus and O'Connor helped Rural win city, league and regional team titles. 

DYLAN WILLINGHAM, Washburn Rural -- A junior, Willingham teamed with junior Cale Deutscher to finish seventh in Class 6A doubles Saturday in Junction City. Willingham and Deutscher won Centennial League and regional doubles championhips after finishing second in No. 1 doubles in the city meet. Willingham is a three-time 6A state medalist and an All-City repeater.

ETHAN WINTERS, Seaman -- Winters, a senior, earned his All-City berth with a third-place No. 1 singles finish in the city tournament. Winters also placed third in singles in the United Kansas Conference tournament and finished fifth in Class 5A regional competition to qualify for state. Winters helped the Vikings win UKC and regional team titles.
