Seaman girls basketball standout Anna Becker and Viking freshman basketball player KaeVon Bonner have been selected by the Dan Key Farmers Insurance Agency as the Rising Stars of the Week.

The Dan Key Agency will recognize top Shawnee County underclassmen throughout the 2022-2023 school year.

Here’s a brief look at the accomplishments of Becker and Bonner over the past week:

ANNA BECKER, Silver Lake

Becker, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, was named the Most Valuable player in last week's Glaciers Edge Tournament after helping the No. 1-ranked (Class 5A) Vikings win the championship.

Becker had 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 60-52 first-round tournament win over Shawnee Mission West, had 10 points and three steals in a 45-39 semifinal win over Derby and had eight points and four steals in Seaman's 46-43 win championship-game win over Emporia.

The Viking standout followed that up with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists in Tuesday's 56-43 United Kansas Conference win over Piper.

KAEVON BONNER, Seaman 

A 5-foot-10 freshman, Bonner scored 42 points in three games over the past week with eight 3-pointers.

Bonner scored 15 points with three 3-pointers in an 81-45 non-league home win over Kansas City-Washington last Wednesday, had a pair of 3-pointers in last Friday's 68-41 United Kansas Conference victory at Lansing and scored a game-high 21 points with three treys in Tuesday's 73-60 home UKC loss to Piper.
