Brooks scored a game-high 29 points with five dunks as Topeka West's boys basketball team took a 68-41 Centennial League victory over rival Topeka High last Friday night at West. Brooks is averaging 27.7 points for the 2-1 Chargers.

A sophomore guard, Dodge scored 29 points to outscore Ottawa by himself as Shawnee Heights improved to 3-0 with a 62-27 non-league road win last Friday. Dodge, who had a 33-point outing in Heights' season-opener, had seven 3-pointers on the night, including four in the first half.

KELSEY GORDON, Washburn University

A senior from Emporia, Gordon turned in a rock-solid performance in the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament in Tampa, Fla., including 12 kills on .385 hitting in the national championship match against Tampa as the 31-6 Ichabods posted a program-record national runner-up finish. Gordon was named to the all-tournament team.

The T-Bird senior 182-pound wrestler posted a perfect 5-0 record in last Saturday's Manhattan Duals tournament with all five of his wins coming by pin. Hartman posted two pins in 29 seconds and also recorded pins in 41 seconds, 1:31 and 2:30 as Shawnee Heights posted a 4-0-1 record on the day.

The Wildcat freshman came off the bench to score a career-high 21 points last Friday night as Hayden improved to 2-0 on the season with a 48-41 home Centennial League victory over Class 6A Manhattan. Meier hit eight of nine free throws on the night.

A junior guard, Smith scored a game-high 32 points and connected on four 3-pointers as Topeka High's girls improved to 3-0 in the Centennial League and overall with an 85-31 league victory over rival Topeka West at West.
