CLASS 6A

WICHITA NORTH (0-8) at WASHBURN RURAL (8-0)

Washburn Rural, the No. 1 West seed, wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 55-8 non-league romp past Topeka West last Thursday at Hummer Sports Park and the Junior Blues will be a big favorite again Friday against winless Wichita North. Senior quarterback Branton DeWeese threw for two touchdowns and ran for two TDs in Rural's win over Topeka West while junior Lafayette Thompson scored a pair of TDs, including a 90-yard kickoff return. The winner of Friday's game will advance in the 6A playoffs to face the winner of Friday's game between Junction City (5-3) and Wichita Heights (5-3). As long as they keep winning, the Junior Blues will be at Bowen-Glaze Stadium through the first four rounds of the playoffs. Wichita North is coming off a 52-0 loss ot Pittsburg.

TOPEKA HIGH (1-7) at DERBY (7-1)

Topeka High is the No. 14 West seed and will be on the road for the second straight season to face perennial Class 6A power Derby, the No. 3 West seed and the winner of five state titles since 2015. Topeka High dropped a 62-33 road non-league decision against Hays last Friday while Derby took a 55-7 win over Newton. The Panthers' lone loss was a 33-19 decision to reigning 6A state champion Manhattan in the season-opener. The Topeka High-Derby winner advances to face the winner of the first-round game between Lawrence (6-2) and Dodge City (3-5).

CLASS 5A

KC-HARMON (1-7) vs. HIGHLAND PARK (6-2)

At Hummer Sports Park

Highland Park will be looking for its first playoff victory since 1991 and only the third playoff win in school history. The Scots beat Ottawa 34-7 in 1991 for their most recent playoff win and also won a playoff contest in 1973. Highland Park is the No. 3 seed on the Class 5A East bracket and will facing Meadowlark Conference foe Kansas City-Harmon in Friday's game at Hummer Sports Park. The Scots are coming off a 28-20 Meadowlark loss to Kansas City-Washington last Friday while Harmon picked up its first win last week, taking a 13-0 non-league decision over St. Mary's Academy. Senior Amari Taylor has rushed for 422 yards and five TDs for the Scots while junor Jamon Wilson has rushed for 313 yards and three TDs and caught 26 passes for 474 yards and six scores. Junior quarterback Ja'Corey Robinson has passed for 564 yards and two scores. The Highland Park-Harmon winner will move on to face the first-round winner between Shawnee Heights (6-2) and KC-Sumner Academy (4-4).

SEAMAN (4-4) at KC-WASHINGTON (5-3)

Seaman is the No. 9 seed in the 5A East while Washington is the No. 8 seed. Both teams are coming off victories, with Seaman rallying for a 28-21 United Kansas Conference win over Piper and Washington taking a 28-20 Meadowlark Conference victory over Highland Park. Seaman junior quarterback Max Huston has completed 157 of 248 passes for 2,274 yards and 29 touchdowns while senior Callen Barta has caught 52 passes for 1,029 yards and 13 TDs and junior Bryer Finley has 37 receptions for 464 yards and eight TDs and senior Holden Finley has 34 catches for 464 yards and six TDs. The Seaman-Washington winner will advance to the second round of the 5A playoffs to meet the winner of the first-round game between De Soto (7-1) and KC-Turner (0-8).

KC-SUMNER ACADEMY (4-4) at SHAWNEE HEIGHTS (6-2)

Shawnee Heights is the No. 6 East seed while Kansas City-Sumner is the No. 11 seed. The T-Birds are coming off a 47-7 United Kansas Conference road victory over Leavenworth last Friday while Sumner dropped a 41-6 non-league decision to Kansas City, Mo.-Lincoln Prep. Shawnee Heights senior quarterback Ryeki Tuley has completed 133 of 202 passes for 1,680 yards and 16 touchdowns whie senior Jayden Moore has 47 receptions for 574 yards and three TDs and senior Jacob Malcom has 38 catches for 533 yards and six scores. Senior Allen Baughman has rushed for 590 yards and eight TDs on 131 attempts. The Shawnee Heights-Sumner winner will advance to play the winner of the first-round game between Highland Park (6-2) and KC-Harmon (1-7).

TOPEKA WEST (1-7) at MILL VALLEY (6-2)

Topeka West is the No. 13 East seed in 5A while Mill Valley is the No. 4 seed. West dropped an 55-8 non-league decision to Washburn Rural last Friday while Mill Valley is coming off a 56-13 win over Shawnee Mission East. Topeka West senior Josh Nitschke, the Chargers' leading rusher, could return to action Friday night after missing the Rural game with an injury. The West-Mill Valley winner will play the winner of the game between Spring Hill (6-2) and Leavenworth (2-6).

CLASS 3A

BALDWIN (2-6) at HAYDEN (8-0)

Hayden, the Class 3A District 4 champion, finished off an 8-0 regular season with last Friday's 56-7 non-league win over Hiawatha while Baldwin is coming off a 42-7 loss to Wellsville. Hayden junior quarterback Jett Wahlmeier has completed 60 of 111 passes for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns while junior Jensen Schrickel has 26 pass receptions for 539 yards and six TDs. Sophomore Kade Mitchell has 356 rushing yards and five TDs on 41 attempts. The Wildcats and Bulldogs are playing in the opening round of the 3A playoffs for the second straight season. The Hayden-Baldwin winner will advance in the 3A playoffs to face the winner of an opening-round playoff game between Santa Fe Trail (6-2) and Royal Valley (3-5).

CLASS 2A

MINNEAPOLIS (4-4) at SILVER LAKE (7-1)

Silver Lake, the Class 2A District 3 champion, ended its regular season with its sixth straight win, a 72-0 win over Atchison County. Minneapolis is coming off a 41-34 loss to Riley County. Silver Lake's lone loss came against undefeated Hayden in Week 2. The Silver Lake-Minneapolis winner will advance to play the winner of the first-round playoff game between Sabetha (7-1) and Atchison County (4-4).

RILEY COUNTY (4-4) at ROSSVILLE (5-3)

Rossville clinched a winning season with a 64-0 win over Maur Hill-Mt. Academy last Friday while Riley County wrapped up its regular season with a 41-34 win over Minneapolis. Rossville senior quarterback Camden Horak has completed 96 of 162 passes for 1,421 yards and 16 touchdowns while junior Tayson Horak has rushed for 427 yards and five TDs on 32 attempts. T. Horak also has 28 pass receptions for 428 yards and six TDs. Friday will be the second meeting of the year between Rossville and Riley County, with the Falcons taking a 26-20 win over the Bulldawgs in Week 2. The Rossville-Riley County winner will advance to face the winner of the first-round playoff game between Nemaha Central (8-0) and Pleasant Ridge (2-6).

EIGHT-MAN DIVISION I

SEDAN (4-4) vs. CAIR PARAVEL LATIN (6-2)

At Seaman, 6 p.m. kickoff

Cair Paravel wrapped up its regular season with a 74-28 win over Maranatha Academy while Sedan is coming off a 58-12 win over Flinthills. Cair Paravel senior Jesiah Bonura had 435 all-purpose yards in the Lions' win over Maranatha, rushing for 193 yards and two touchdowns, catching four passes for 47 yards and a TD and returning four kickoffs for 195 yards and two scores. CPLS junior quarterback Jase Pavlik threw for five touchdowns and ran for a TD against Maranatha. The Cair Paravel-Sedan winner will advance to play the winner of the first-round playoff game between Central-Burden (8-0) and Goessel (1-7).
