Seaman and Shawnee Heights finished fourth and fifth in the team standings, with only the top three teams moving on, but the Vikings qualified Evan Michalski and Hunter Gerhardt for state while the T-Birds qualified Joey Hohman and Andrew Schulte.

"I'm proud of the kids,'' Seaman coach Rick Rineberg said. "We really did a good job battling today. We kind of got off to a weird start with the weather and the thunderstorm and we had a 30-minute delay, but all in all I'm really proud of the kids. I felt like they did a good job of minimizing the big scores and maximizing their opportunities for pars.

"I'm super proud of Evan and Hunter. They've done a great job for us all year. Evan especially has come on super hot lately. He did a great job last week at league and Hunter's been Mr. Consistent all year and he utilized that again today.''

Shawnee Heights coach Jane Yi was also extremely happy with her team's sub-state performance.

"I'm very excited,'' Yi said. "This was a hard field and my team's really young. I did have a senior but overall they're juniors and a sophomore and it's hard to score well when you're young. They just came out of JV last year going into varsity and regionals is very stressful.''
