Eight state qualifiers, including three state medalists and four members of a Washburn Rural team that won its 16th straight city championship, comprise the 2026 All-Shawnee County boys golf team.
Caleb Cleverdon, who competed for Cair Paravel Latin in the postseason and Topeka High in the regular season, finished a county-high second in last week's Class 2A state tournament while Rossville senior Jack Donovan, a three-time all-county first-team selection and four-time state medalist, finished fifth in 2A and CPLS sophomore Chase Hastert placed 17th.
Washburn Rural, which won its 16th straight city team championship, is represented on the All-Shawnee County team by senior repeat pick Higgins Hawks, senior city champion Peyton Goehring, senior Michael Wilson and sophomore Wyatt Dean.
Rounding out the first team is Seaman senior Evan Michalski, a 5A individual qualifier with a tie for sixth place at regionals after tying for fourth in the United Kansas Conference tournament.
All-Shawnee County capsules:
CALEB CLEVERDON, Topeka High/Cair Paravel Latin -- A senior, Cleverdon posted a runnerup finish in the Class 2A state tournament with a 36-hole score of 149 (73-76). Cleverdon shot a 71 at regionals to tie for first and finish second in a playoff as CPLS qualified as a team with a runnerup finish. He took a four-shot win in the Flint Hills League with a 73 as the Lions won the team title by 34 strokes. Competing for Topeka High during the regular season, Cleverdon tied for third in the Centennial League with a 75 and tied for ninth in the city meet with an 84. Cleverdon tied for sixth in the 2025 2A state event.
WYATT DEAN, Washburn Rural -- One of only two underclassmen on the All-Shawnee County first team, the sophomore Dean helped Washburn Rural win its 16th straight city team championship and qualify as a team for the Class 6A state tournament with a third-place regional finish. Dean placed third in the city tournament with an 81, tied for third in the Centennial League tournament with a 75 as the Junior Blues finished second as a team and he tied for 14th at regionals with a 79.
Jack Donovan, Rossville
JACK DONOVAN, Rossville -- A senior, Donovan is a first-team All-Shawnee County pick for the third straight season after earning a state medal for the fourth straight year (two in Class 3A, two in 2A) with a fifth-place finish in the 2A state event with a 36 hole score of 155 (79-76). Donovan finished third in a 2A regional with a 76 and was the Big East League individual medalist with a 71. Donovan, who tied for sixth in the 2025 state tournament, received All-Shawnee County recognition in three sports.
PEYTON GOEHRING, Washburn Rural -- A senior, Goehring was the 2026 city individual champion, shooting a 77 and winning the title in a playoff, while leading the Junior Blues to their 16th straight city team crown. Goehring, who was coached by his father, Jared, in high school shot an 84 in Class 6A regional competition as Washburn Rural qualified for state as a team with a third-place finish. He tied for 12th in the Centennial League with an 80 as the Junior Blues finished as the team runnerup.
CHASE HASTERT, Topeka High/Cair Paravel Latin -- A sophomore, Hastert earns his first All-Shawnee County first-team honor after placing 17th in the Class 2A state tournament with a 36-hole total of 166 (85-81). Hastert tied for fourth in 2A regional competition with a 78 as the Lions qualified as a team with a runnerup finish and he shot an 80 to finish third in the Flint Hills League meet as the Lions won by 34 strokes. He shot an 85 in the city meet and an 83 in the Centennial League while competing for Topeka High.
HIGGINS HAWKS, Washburn Rural -- Hawks, a senior, earned his second straight All-Shawnee County first-team berth for the Junior Blues. Hawks shot an 85 in the city meet as Rural won its 16th straight city championship, tied for 16th in the Centennial League with an 84, tied for 10th at regionals with a 78 as the Junior Blues earned a Class 6A team berth and tied for 22nd at state with a 36-hole score of 153 (76-77), one stroke away from a medal. Hawks was also a member of Rural's 6A state-championship soccer team last fall.
EVAN MICHALSKI, Seaman -- Michalski, a senior, qualified for the Class 5A state tournament as the second individual regional qualifier with a 77, tying for sixth place. Michalski shot a 71 in the United Kansas Conference championships to tie for fourth place individually as the Vikings finished second in the team race. A first-time All-City first-team pick, Michalski tied for ninth place in the city championship with an 84 as Seaman posted a runnerup team finish.
MICHAEL WILSON, Washburn Rural -- A senior, Wilson earns his first All-Shawnee County first-team honor. Wilson tied for seventh place in the city meet as the Junior Blues captured their 16th straight team championship, tied for eighth place with a 78 in the Centennial League tournament as Rural finished second as a team and tied for 21st at regionals as the Junior Blues earned a 6A team berth with a third-place finish.
