Washburn University junior volleyball players Emma Siron and Shannon Frankes garnered MIAA Athlete of the Week honors after helping the No. 8-ranked Ichabods post a perfect 4-0 record in the season-opening Washburn Invitational.

Siron, an outside hitter, was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in her first week as an Ichabod after leading Washburn in kills with 58 (4.14 per set) in the Ichabods' four matches and hitting .307.
Siron added 37 digs (2.64 per set) along with a team-high seven service aces and three blocks. She had three double-figure kill matches, including a 20- kill effort in the season-opener against Oklahoma Christian.
She notched a double-double with 13 kills and 15-digs against Westminster as well.
Frakes earned her first career MIAA Setter of the Week honor after dishing out 162 assists (11.57 per set) across WU's four matches over the weekend.
Frakes also led the Ichabods with 52 digs (3.71 per set) and added 15 kills, seven blocks and four aces. She had two 40-plus assist matches with three double-doubles including a 47-assist, 19-dig effort in the season-opener against Oklahoma Christian.
The No. 8 ranked Ichabods will be back in action this week for four matches at the Sioux Falls Classic, beginning Thursday against Black Hills State.
