Cair Paravel Latin senior Drew Fay, a Class 3A-1A state runnerup in the 2025, earned another state title shot with a regional singles championship Friday at Kossover Tennis Center, leading the Lions to the regional team title.

Fay, who teamed with Eric Buchenau to finish second in 3A-1A doubles as a junior, posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kansas City Christian's Isaac Seitz in the singles championship late Friday after a lengthy rain delay.
Fay, the city champion, will now take a 26-2 record into Friday and Saturday's state tournament at Harmon Park in Prairie Village.
The Lions also qualified freshman singles player Jonah Arnold for the state meet, with Arnold (11-5) finishing fourth at regionals with a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Neodesha's Jackson Delong in the third-place match.
The Cair Paravel doubles team of seniors Joey Thoennes and David Toenjes also advanced to state with a fourth-place finish, dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Neodesha in the third-place match.
Cair Paravel earned the regional championship by a 16-13 margin over Marysville, which went one-two in doubles.

Wildcats qualify five players for Class 4A state
Hayden tennis will be well-represented when it hosts the Class 4A state tournament Friday and Saturday at Kossover Tennis Center, with the Wildcats qualifying five players out of the McPherson regional on Friday while posting a runnerup team finish.
Host McPherson took a 25-15 win over the Wildcats in the regional team standings, with the Bullpups sweeping the singles and doubles championships.
Hayden's senior doubles team of William Luke and Brock Reynoldson (17-18) advanced to the championship match before dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision to McPherson's Jones Emery and Mason Eisenbarth.
The Wildcats also qualified the doubles team of sophomore Patrick Luke and freshman Miles Allphin for state as Luke and Allphin (20-11) finished fifth with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Clay Center's Tarin Pfizenmaier and Caden Peterson.
Hayden junior Brek Wahlmeier posted a third-place finish in singles, winning by injury default over Clay Center's Eli Pfizenmaier in the third-place match to improve to 20-15.
