Washburn Rural boys tennis rode a balanced attack to the team championship in Tuesday's 10-school Topeka West Invitational at the Kossover Tennis Center.

Seniors Dylan Willingham and Cale Deutscher came within a whisker of winning the doubles championship, with the Junior Blues duo dropping an 8-7, 7-3 tiebreaker decision to Piper in the title match.

Washburn Rural junior singles player Greyson Jones also mounted a strong bid for a title, losing on a tiebreaker in the semifinals before bouncing back to take an 8-4 win over Lawrence's Julian Bricker in the third-place match.
Rural juniors Ben Tryhus and Kieffer O'Connor posted a fifth-place finish in doubles while sophomore Jaxon Whitehead finished sixth in singles as Washburn Rural took the team crown by an 82-79 margin over Blue Valley Southwest.
Shawnee Heights and Hayden also competed in Tuesday's tournament along with the host Chargers.
Topeka West junior Zander Rice and sophomore Collin McGee posted an eighth-place doubles finish.
