Shannon Frakes
SHANNON FRAKES, Washburn University
A junior setter, Frakes earned her first career MIAA Setter of the Week honor after dishing out 162 assists across WU's four matches as the Ichabods went a perfect 4-0 in the Washburn Invitational. Frakes also had 52 digs (3.71 per set) and added 15 kills, seven blocks and four aces. She had two 40-plus assist matches with three double-doubles including a 47-assist, 19-dig effort in the season-opener against Oklahoma Christian.
Kylie Hanni
KYLIE HANNI, Silver Lake
Hanni, a senior setter, was named the tournament Most Valuable Player in Saturday's Salina South tournament as Silver Lake went 5-0 to win the tournament championship for the second straight season. The defending Class 3A state champions earned wins over Wamego, Chapman, Minneapolis, Salina South and Sacred Heart and have now won 42 straight matches dating back to last season.
Brody Hayes
BRODY HAYES, Washburn University
Hayes, a sophomore safety, registered a career-high 10 tackles in his first career start to pace the Washburn defense as the Ichabods opened the 2026 season with a 27-21 non-conference road victory at Truman Saturday night. A team captain, Hayes, a native of Clay Center, helped Washburn finish with a 446-385 advantage in total yardage.
Logan Madden
LOGAN MADDEN, Washburn University
A sophomore quarterback, Madden completed 28 of 38 passes for a career-high 328 yards and two touchdowns in Washburn's 27-21 season-opening win at Truman on Saturday. Madden's passing yardage was 107 yards more than his previous career high as he collected his first 300-yard passing game. The team captain completed 74 percent of his passes, including a stretch of 16 of 18 completed passes.
Emma Siron
EMMA SIRON, Washburn University
Siron, a junior outside hitter, was named the Most Valuable Player in the Washburn Invitational, helping the No. 8 Ichabods to a perfect 4-0 opening weekend. She tallied 58 total kills (4.14 per set) while hitting .307 percent. She also served seven aces, scooped 37 digs (2.64 per set) and made three blocks. In the season-opening win over Oklahoma Christian she crushed 20 kills in four sets while serving four aces and adding eight digs.

JAYLIE WHITEHEAD, Silver Lake
Whitehead, a senior libero, was named the most outstanding defensive player in Saturday's Salina South tournament as Silver Lake went 5-0 to win the tournament championship for the second straight season. The defending Class 3A state champions earned wins over Wamego, Chapman, Minneapolis, Salina South and Sacred Heart and have now won 42 straight matches dating back to last season.
