KAITLYN ALDRIDGE, Shawnee Heights
Aldridge, a junior swimming standout, won the 100-yard butterfly in last Tuesday's Topeka West Invitational at the Capitol Federal Natatorium in a time of 1 minute, 9.79 seconds while also posting a runnerup finish in the 200 individual medley (2:35.70) and swimming on the T-Birds' second-place 200 medley relay (2:21.49).
DALANEY ANDERSON, Washburn University
A sophomore second baseman, had a huge weekend as Washburn University softball went 3-1 to improve to 33-18 and clinch a spot in the upcoming MIAA Tournament. Anderson, a native of Seward, Neb., hit a pair of three-run homers in Saturday's 6-4, 6-4 doubleheader split with Missouri Western and delivered two two-run doubles in Sunday's 2-0, 6-3 sweep over Northwest Missouri, giving her 10 RBI and 61 on the season, one off the WU single-season record.
GRACE FUNK, Hayden
Funk, a senior midfielder, scored three goals on the week as Hayden soccer improved to 7-0-0 on the season. Funk had a goal in the Wildcats' 5-0 win over Shawnee Heights last Monday and scored both goals in Hayden's 2-0 Centennial League win over defending Class 6A state champion Washburn Rural on Wednesday. Funk was also a multi-time 4A state medalist in tennis.
KAELYN GERDEL, Hayden
A junior swimmer, Gerdel was a double gold medalist for the Wildcats in last Tuesday's Topeka West Invitational at the Capitol Federal Natatorium. Gerdel won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2 minutes, 13.39 seconds and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.82.
RAYSHON POLLARD, Highland Park
Pollard, a junior track and field standout, won three individual events in last Wednesday's Junior Blues Invitational at Washburn Rural. Pollard won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.54 seconds, captured the win in the 300 hurdles in 42.82 seconds and finished first in the long jump with a best leap of 21 feet, 2.25 seconds.
MAKENZIE SAIS, Washburn University
A sophomore center-fielder for Washburn University softball, Sais set the MIAA single-season record for stolen bases with a pair of steals in the Ichabods' 2-0 first-game win over Northwest Missouri State on Sunday at Gahnstrom Field. A native of Frederick, Colo., Sais eclipsed the 29-year-old MIAA record and now has 66 steals on the season for the 33-18 Ichabods.
